Joan Lund
May 9, 1933 – Aug. 23, 2022
Joan M. Lund, 89,
Minot, passed away on
Tuesday, August 23, 2022
at her daughter’s home.
Joan was born May 9,
1933 to Joseph and Regina
(Susak) Pitner in Minot.
She was raised and edu-
cated in the Minot area.
On April 23, 1962, Joan
was united in marriage
with Donald “Hap” Lund.
The couple would be
blessed with two children,
Duane and Constance.
Hap passed away in 2018.
Joan worked for many
years as a bookkeeper for
Westland Oil. She was
also a secretary for the La-
dies’ Auxiliary of the
American Legion and
worked in the church of-
fice of Little Flower
Catholic Church in Minot.
Joan took great pride in
her lawn, flower beds,
and garden and found
comfort and relaxation in
tilling and weeding. Joan
also enjoyed canning the
produce from her garden.
Joan loved to read cook-
books and try out new re-
cipes. She taught her
daughters, grand-
daughters, and several
nieces how to make buns
from scratch. Known as
“Auntie Joan”, she en-
joyed hosting Thanksgiv-
ing for many years and
there are many fond
memories of good food
and family.
Joan was a good care-
giver who always looked
after others. She sewed
the clothes for her chil-
dren and loved babysit-
ting her grandchildren in-
stead of having them go to
a daycare. Joan was al-
ways willing to give a
back rub or massage achy
legs. Even in the days pri-
or to her passing, she
would rub our hands to
comfort us and tell us not
to cry, that everything
would be okay, and to
take it one day at a time.
Joan will be greatly
missed by all who knew
her.
Joan was an avid gar-
dener who loved quilting,
sewing, and baking. She
enjoyed being part of
bowling leagues with her
husband. She was a
member of Little Flower
Catholic Church, Minot
Quilting Guild, and the
American Legion Ladies’
Auxiliary.
Joan is survived by her
