Sept. 11, 1953 – Aug. 12, 2022
Curt Broten, 68, Minot,
passed away on Friday,
August 12, 2022 at his
home.
Curt Broten was born
on September 11th, 1953
to Glen and Dorothy
(Lynnes) Broten in Rugby
ND. He attended and gra-
duated from Unity High
School in Petersburg ND
in 1971. He went on to
earn his bachelor’s degree
in Education from Minot
State University in 1974.
He was an elementary
educator and principal in
several small communi-
ties through ND until he
switched careers after
nearly 20 years in educa-
tion. His time was then
spent in several areas in-
cluding construction,
farming & agriculture, and
insurance before working
in the business office at
Trinity Health until he re-
tired on his 67th birthday.
Curt married the love of
his life, Patricia Ann Wer-
linger on November 27th,
1982. They raised their
three daughters, Rachel,
Rebecca, and Cassandra

children values of love,
family, and strength in
adversity.
Curt was known for his
mischievous grin and the
gentle, quiet way he
showed his love. He could
talk your ear off if you let
him, usually about how
proud he was of his
daughters, sons-in-law,
and his four grandchil-
dren.
His hobbies included
outdoor adventures, deer
hunting each fall with his
son-in-law Justin, grand-
son Austin, and his
youngest daughter. He en-
joyed coffee with his
neighbors, Tuesday even-
ing dinners with Ruby,
tinkering in his shed, and
being a Mr. fix-it for
friends and family alike.
Even in retirement, he en-
joyed his job at Market-
place Foods which he
described as his “daily ex-
ercise” and time to visit
with customers who be-
came friends.
Curt is survived by his
daughters, Rachel (Justin)
Hust, Bismarck ND, Re-
becca (Michael) Rubbelke,
St Cloud Minnesota, and
Cassandra Broten, Minot;

Ansley Hust, Hannah and
Caleb Rubbelke, and spe-
cial grand dog Aspen;
