Mary Karna

Mary Catherine Karna

was born April 17, 1959,

to Eugene and Shirley

(Lampert) Rensch, in

Minot. She was raised in

Makoti and graduated

from North Shore High

School in 1978. She con-

tinued her education at

Josef’s School of Hair

Design in Minot. She

worked for Sharon Officer

in Makoti and later

bought the business.

On June 11, 1983, Mary

was united in marriage to

Michael “Mick” Karna, in

Makoti. Their union was

blessed with five boys.

Mary and Mick owned

Mickey’s Bar in Ryder,

Redwood CafÈ in Parshall,

Tastee Freeze in New

Town, and most recently

K-Bar in Makoti.

Mary’s greatest joy was

her family. She loved fol-

lowing her boys in their

sporting events and espe-

cially treasured her

grandchildren. She en-

joyed shooting pool, play-

ing softball, and vacation-

ing with her sisters each

year. Mary was a member

of St. Elizabeth Catholic

Church and the Altar So-

ciety. She was also a

member of the American

Legion Auxiliary.

On Monday, June 27,

2022, surrounded by her

family, Mary Karna, age

63, passed away at a

Minot hospital. Blessed be

her memory among us.

Mary is survived by her

husband, Mick Karna of

Makoti; sons and

daughters-in-law, Chase

and Lindsey, Cameron

and Bridget, Caleb and

Trina, Cade, and

Chandler, all of Makoti;

grandchildren, Carson

and Hazel, Jaxon, Benja-

min, and Hudson; broth-

ers, Mike and Darlah

Rensch of New Town, and

James Rensch of Makoti;

sisters, Shelley and Ron

Schlieman of Denver, CO,

Pam and Jim Spoklie of

Pocatello, ID, Laurie and

Tom Aljets of Carrington,

Jane and Jason Christen-

sen of Las Vegas, NV;

several nieces, nephews,

and cousins.

Mary was preceded in

death by her parents;

granddaughter, Kennedy;

sister, Deborah and Roger

Semmen; and

parents-in-law, Dene and

Pearl Karna.

al: Thursday, July 7, 2022,

at 11 a.m., at Makoti

School Gymnasium,

Makoti
