Marlyn Mattern, 89,

Minot, ND, formerly of

Carpio, ND, passed away

Saturday, July 9, 2022, at

Prince of Peace Care

Center, Ellendale, ND.

Marlyn Carol Rostad

was born May 26, 1933,

the daughter of Halvor

and Salvida Emarion

(Pederson) Rostad, on the

family farm near Carpio,

ND. She was raised in

Carpio and graduated

from Carpio High School

in 1952.

Upon graduating from

high school Marlyn went

to work at the Carpio Post

Office as a clerk. She

loved the coming and go-

ing of people and visiting

with them all. She called

working at the post office,

“a rewarding career”. On

June 3, 1988 Marlyn re-

tired from the post office

as postmaster after 35

years of service.

In 1970 Marlyn married

her first husband Harvey

Anderson who proceeded

her in death. In 2006, she

married Ray Mattern. Her

and Ray both being re-

tired, they made their

home in Minot.

Marlyn was a member

of the Carpio Lutheran

Church and was active in

the woman’s groups. She

was also a Red Hat

Member.

She enjoyed camping

and reading books.

Her loving family in-

cludes: husband, Ray,

Minot; son, James (Rita)

Anderson, New Rockford,

ND;grandchildren, Erika

(Shane) Azure and Ryan

Anderson;sister, Ilene

Freier, Bismarck,

ND;brother, Harlan

(Dorothy) Rostad, Minot;

and several nieces,

nephews and cousins She

was preceded in death by

her first husband, Harvey

Woodrow Anderson; her

parents; nephew, Jeffery

Rostad

Funeral: Friday, July 15.

2022, at 1:00 p.m. at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home Chapel, Minot.

ND.

Interment: Friday at

2:15 pm St. Johns

Cemetery, Carpio, ND.
