David Allen Armstrong,
son of Howard and Mabel
(Foss) Armstrong was
born on Memorial Day,
May 30, 1949 in Rolette
ND. He attended Rolette
Public School and gra-
duated from Rolette High
School with the class of
1967. He continued his
education at Bottineau
School of Forestry and
North Dakota State
University where he en-
joyed membership in the
Co-op House.
Dave was united in
marriage to Stephanie
Mongeon on October 6,
1973 at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in
Rolette where he was an
active member of the
church and served as the
Sexton of the Sacred
Heart Cemetery for many
years.
They established their
home on the family farm,
raised their beautiful
daughter April, farmed
side by side and raised re-
gistered Suffolk sheep.
He farmed the land that
he loved until health is-
sues forced him to retire
in 2014. Dave a faithful
steward of the land, took
meticulous care of his
lawn, bin site, and flower
beds. In 2004, in partner-
ship with his wife, they
purchased the
Gilbertson-Gloger Funeral
Home in Devils Lake ND.
One of Dave’s greatest
joys came when he be-
came “Papa Dave” to his
grandchildren Jenay and
Ephram. They were the
light of his life, his pride
and joy.
Dave’s passions were
John Deere, Ford, and
NDSU Bison Football. In
retirement he enjoyed
breakfast at Linda’s with
the gang and golf at
Rolette Country Club.
Through the many
health issues Dave faced
these past years, he was
only able to stay in his
beloved home, “the farm”
because of the wonderful
support of family, neigh-
bors, friends and his spe-
cial caregiver Tracy Casa-
vant.
Dave’s loving family in-
clude his daughter April
and her husband Victor
Boucher of Bemidji MN
and grandchildren Jenay
and Ephram Boucher also
of Bemidji; his wife
Stephanie of Devils Lake;
in-laws Laurel and Wayne
Terry, Battle Lake MN,
Wendel and Donna
Mongeon, Fargo ND, Gail
and Chuck Tastad, Rolette
ND, Lisa and Jim Olson,
Underwood ND and Sandi
Mongeon, Rugby ND;
beloved nieces, nephews
and their families and
many dear cousins.
He was preceded in
death by his Dad and
Mom, sister Elaine,
brother-in-law Kenton
Mongeon and
father-in-law and
mother-in-law Eugene and
Jeane Mongeon.
For this one farmer the
worries are over, lie down
and rest your head. Your
time has been and strug-
gles enough, put the trac-
tor in the shed.
Memorials may be
directed to Sacred Heart
Catholic Church or Valle
Lutheran Church both in
Rolette ND.
