Darlene Appelt, 85, rur-
al Martin, passed away at
home on Tuesday, June
28, 2022.
Funeral services will be
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
July 2, 2022, at Faith
Lutheran Church, Harvey
with burial following in
the Sunnyside Cemetery,
Harvey, ND.
Visitation will be Friday
from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. fol-
lowed by a prayer service
at 7 p.m. at the Hertz Fun-
eral Home, Harvey, ND.
Darlene was born on
July 14, 1936, in Harvey,
ND to Edward and Edna
(Reiswig) Ziegler. She
grew up in the Lincoln
Valley area south of
Anamoose. After her
father’s death in 1948, the
family moved to McClu-
sky and later to Harvey.
Darlene attended the Har-
vey High School and also
worked at the
Bowl-A-Drome and the
Harvey Bakery. Darlene
married Robert Appelt on
August 10, 1953, in Wolf
Point, MT. They moved
to the Appelt family farm
north of Martin in 1955
and continued to reside
there during their retire-
ment.
Darlene’s interests in-
cluded square dancing,
sewing, gardening, bak-
ing, playing games, and
especially spending time
with family. She touched
many lives with her gen-
erosity and made sure
family and friends would
receive greeting cards.
Darlene was a current
member of Faith Lutheran
Church and a former
member of the United
Methodist Church in Har-
vey. She enjoyed attend-
ing Christian Women’s ac-
tivities in Harvey. Dar-
lene loved serving God
and her faith was very im-
portant to her. She
showed many characteris-
tics of a Godly woman
described in Proverbs 31.
Darlene is survived by
her husband of 68 years,
Robert; children, Roberta

Anamoose, Rodney (Deb)
Appelt of Granville, Ran-
dy (Dawn) Appelt of Mar-
tin, Roxie (Mark) Rieger of
Bismarck,Rhonda
(Dwight) Schneibel of

12 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren;
brother, Gerald (Evie)
Ziegler of Spokane Valley,
WA; brother-in-law,
Richard Appelt of Lake
Villa, IL.
Darlene was preceded
in death by her father in
1948 and mother in 1983;
infant sister, Elsie; sister
Dorothy Wahl; brothers,
Myril Ziegler; infant
granddaughter, Elizabeth
Schneibel; sisters-in-law,
Virginia Ziegler, Elaine
Appelt;brother-in-law,
RalphAppelt; sister-in-law
and brother-in-law
Geraldine and John Dethl-
off.
