Gladys Grinolds

Nov. 16, 1925 – June 24, 2022

Gladys Ione Grinolds

passed away on June 24,

2022, at the Bethel Home

in Stanley, ND, at the age

of 96, surrounded by

loved ones. Gladys was

born at the family farm

near Stanley on No-

vember 16, 1925, to Oliver

and Amanda Thompson,

the 4th of 11 children.

After graduating from

Stanley High School,

Class of 1943, Gladys

worked at Anderson

Department Store and

later for the REA, where

she witnessed the electrif-

ication of the rural farm-

ing community. Gladys

married Robert Grinolds

on January 23, 1949. After

living in Stanley and

White Earth a short time,

they moved to Appam,

ND where Gladys served

as postmaster. In 1972

Robert and Gladys moved

to the Broken Wheel

Angus Ranch near Paler-

mo. She worked at the

post office in Stanley and

retired after 30 years of

service. Gladys enjoyed

flower gardening, baking,

music and dancing with

Robert. She was also a

long-time member of

Faith Lutheran Church

and Charity Circle in

Palermo. Gladys is sur-

vived by her daughter;

Kathy (Ross), West Grove,

PA, Sam (Lenore), Cor-

coran, MN, Terri (Greg),

Centennial, CO;

daughter-in-law, Renee

Grinolds, Palermo; eight

grandchildren and ten

great grandchildren;

brother, Milfred Thomp-

son; sisters, Carol

Lounsberry, Ardis Rice,

and Sharon Cvancara

(Gene).

She was preceded in

death by her parents,

Oliver and Amanda; hus-

band, Robert; son, Kim;

granddaughter, Jamie; sis-

ters, Myrtle, Mabel, Leo-

na, Lois, and Lorraine;

and brother, Gerald. We

wish to thank Gladys’

caregivers during her last

years – the Wellington and

Maple View staff in Minot

and the Bethel Home staff

in Stanley. A special

thank you to her grand-

daughter Kari Henderson.

In lieu of flowers

memorials can be made to

the Faith Lutheran

Church, Rest Haven

Cemetery Fund, or the

Alzheimer’s Association.

There will be a public

visitation held at the

Springan Stevenson Fun-

eral Home in Stanley,

North Dakota on Thurs-

day, June 30, 2022 from 2

pm to 6 pm. The Funeral

Service will be held at

11:00 AM on

Friday, July 1, 2022 at

the Faith Lutheran

Church in Palermo, North

Dakota. Pastor Rebecca

Mangelsdorf will officiate.

Gladys will be laid to rest

in the Rest Haven

Cemetery in Palermo,

North Dakota.
