Dennis Anthony Bauer

was born April 30, 1965,

to George and Violet

(Nygaard) Bauer in Ken-

mare, ND. He graduated

from Kenmare High

School in 1983 and at-

tended Bismarck Junior

College, graduating with a

degree in Agri Business.

From an early age, Dennis

was passionate about

farming and made it his

life.

Soon after graduating

college, Dennis started

farming, while working

through the winters for

Miller Grain Cleaning for

almost 10 years. In 2006,

he bought a farmstead

east of Bowbells and built

up his own farming opera-

tion. Dennis worked day

and night during the sum-

mer months to build the

farm to what it is today. In

2010, he nearly lost his

life when a tornado des-

troyed his entire farm,

leaving him years of

clean-up and rebuilding.

He was very grateful to

the entire community for

rallying around him to as-

sist with the cleanup ef-

forts and starting over.

On many weekends,

you could find Dennis at-

tending auction sales with

friends looking for some-

thing bigger and better for

his farm. He also enjoyed

going to toy shows and

online auctions, buying

and collecting farm toys,

developing a large assort-

ment of tractors and com-

bines.

Dennis was involved

with the local community

as a member of the hous-

ing board, church board

and township board;

where he served as

president for many years.

He enjoyed traveling with

friends, including trips to

NASCAR races, Barrett

Jackson car shows, Ire-

land, Mexico, and China.

In March 2020, just be-

fore the pandemic, Dennis

was diagnosed with canc-

er. He spent the next 2

years fighting the battle of

his life. Dennis was al-

ways very thankful for the

many friends and neigh-

bors who came together to

help in any way they

could.

Dennis is survived by

his parents, George and

Violet Bauer, Kenmare;

sisters Donna Bauer,

Bismarck; Bonnie (Ken)

Herman, Bismarck; Nancy

Bauer, Bottineau; nephew

Shane Herman, Fargo;

and niece Shelby Herman,

Billings, MT.

He will be greatly

missed not only by his

family, but also by his

many friends, including

lifetime friend Jeff Geiger

and his daughters McKe-

na and Allie, Bryce

Boughton, Pete Johnson,

Cher Baggett, Larry Even-

son, and numerous oth-

ers.

Dennis was preceded in

death by his grandparents

Anton “Tony” and Mary

Ellen Bauer, Anton and

Bernice Nygaard, several

aunts, uncles, and

cousins.
