Lutheran Church in Cros-
by with Pastor Zachariah
Shipman officiating.

cordia Lutheran Cemetery
in Crosby.
Carol Jane Myers was
born January 19, 1955, in
her family’s Ambrose
home, into the arms of her
loving father, James
Myers, and brave mother,
Arlene (Larson), while
older sister Marilyn
looked on from the crib in
the living room. And so
began the legacy of Carol
building close relation-
ships with her loved ones
in the kitchen. Carol later
became big sister to Don-
na, Cheryl, David, and
Ron. The Myers kids were
known for their love of
horses, and Carol, in par-
ticular, for her hatred of
chickens.
Carol was baptized,
confirmed, and married at
the Ambrose Lutheran
Church, and graciously
served her church com-
munities until her death.
Carol attended elementary
school at Ambrose Public
School and graduated
from Divide County High
School in 1973. After high
school, Carol attended
North Dakota State Col-
lege of Science, Wahpe-
ton.
Carol moved back to
Crosby and married
Robert “Bob” Hay No-
vember 15, 1975. It was
there that they farmed
and raised their children,
Clinton Robert and Jamie
Lynn, for 46 years. She
worked in various roles
on the farm alongside Bob
and Glen. Carol was a
loving and endlessly de-
voted mother, traveling
across the state for hock-
ey, gymnastics, and horse
shows. Carol was in-
famous in the Northwest
Saddle Club Association
for always having a kind
word and an extra set of
hands for riders young
and old alike.
The only thing Carol
loved more than being
mom to Clint and Jamie
was getting to be grandma
to their kids, Jordan,
Megan, Emma, Sophie,
Addie, and Clay. She had
the time and patience of a
saint, listening to all the
things the kids had to tell
her, letting them make
projects and messes
without batting an eye,
and being their biggest
supporter. She radiated
happiness when she
could talk about her
grandkids and their many
talents, including listen-
ing to recordings of their
musical performances
over and over with such
pride!
Carol was a friend to
anyone who sat at her
kitchen counter, where
she would simultaneously
prepare the most deli-
cious meals and partici-
pate in any surrounding
conversation with seem-
ing ease. She had a way
about her of making one
feel like she cared about
any story being told,
which must have been
true because she remem-
bered details big and
small from each one of
her family and friends’
lives. Carol was remark-
able in always knowing
what needed to be said or
done, giving advice, or
listening in a way that led
you to find the answer
yourself.
Throughout her life-
time, Carol remained
close with both her family
and Bob’s family, taking
very seriously her job as
“Auntie Carol” or “Mother
Goose” to 24 nieces and
nephews who, like Clint
and
Jamie, knew Carol
would always be there for
and love them uncondi-
tionally. Bob and Carol
spent time together away
from the farm curling,
hunting, snowmobiling,
taking motorcycle trips,
and later spending
winters in Florida with
friends. Carol was devas-
tated by the loss of Clint
in 2012, and her family
finds comfort knowing
she has been reunited
with him now.
Carol’s legacy will live
on in her husband Bob of
47 years, daughter, Jamie
(Brent) Overland (Sophie,
Addie, Clay);
daughter-in-law, Heather
(Garrett) Gilbertson (Jor-
dan, Megan, Emma); si-
blings, Marilyn (Tim)
Selle (Carrie, Kim, Kacie,
Brittany); Donna (Steve)
Bummer (Ellie, Jenny,
Amy, Cassie); Cheryl
(Mark) Overland (Kyle,
Kristina, Cody); David
(Mendy) Myers
(Jonathan); Ron Myers
(Hayley, Ryan); in-laws,
Pat Walcker (John, Allis-
on); Donna (Chuck) Pum-
mill (Gena, Adam), and
Ardis (Mike) Stewart
(Whitney); all of her great
nieces and nephews; best
friend, Deb Faldalen, and
special friends Andrew
and Zeandra Swart.
Carol was preceded in
death by father, James
Myers; son, Clint Hay;
in-laws Glen “Gramps”
and Helen “Grammy”
Hay; nieces, AdriAnn
Walcker, Kelsey Myers,
and Nikki (Pummill)
Lynn, and nephews Jef-
frey Overland and Mike
Selle.

eral Home of Crosby is in
