SHERWOOD – Richard
Leroy “Richie” Mehus, 83,
Sherwood, died peaceful-
ly Monday, May 16, 2022,
at a Minot nursing home,
surrounded by his loved
ones.
He was born Oct. 17,
1938, in Sherwood, to
Engvald and Grace
(Albers) Mehus. He at-
tended and graduated
from Kenmare High
School in 1956. He mar-
ried Betty Grenvik in No-
vember of 1957. Their
marriage was blessed with
five children, one
daughter and four sons.
Their marriage ended in
1969. At that time, Richie
moved to the home farm
with his five children.
Throughout his life, he
did carpentry work,
worked missile sites, and
ultimately returned to
farming with his father.
After retiring from farm-
ing, Richie became the as-
sistant city maintenance
man for his beloved City
of Sherwood. He took
great pride in making
Sherwood look beautiful.
Richie was a member of
Our Savior Lutheran
Church, Sherwood, and
the Sherwood Senior Ci-
tizens Center. He loved
lotto tickets, bingo and
beating his friends and
sons at cards. He will for-
ever be remembered as a
jokester, a storyteller, a
friend, a pet lover, a fa-
ther, grandfather, brother
and uncle. Richie will be
missed by all who were
blessed to share in his
life.

my) Mehus, Porterville,
Calif., Max Mehus, Minot,
and Kelly Mehus, Sher-
wood; eight grandchildren

Mehus, Stanley; and spe-
cial pets, Poochie and
Flash.
Richie was preceded in
death by: his parents,
Engvald and Grace
Mehus; son, Mark Mehus;
and brother, Ron Mehus.
Funeral: 2 p.m., Friday,
May 20, 2022, at Our Sa-
vior Lutheran Church,
Sherwood.
Burial: Sunset Memori-
al Gardens, rural Minot.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until
the service time, Friday,
at the church. Friends
