Anamoose, passed away
April 29, 2022, at St.
Gabriel’s Assisted Living
in Bismarck, North Dako-
ta. Mass of Christian Buri-
al will be at 10:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, May 4, 2022
at St. Francis Xavier
Catholic Church,
Anamoose. Fr. Thomas
Graner will officiate and
burial will be in the
church cemetery. Visita-
tion will be from 5:00
p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tues-
day, May 3, 2022 followed
by a rosary and parish vi-
gil service at 7:00 p.m. at
the church. Nelson Fun-
eral Home, Drake, North
Dakota is in charge of the
arrangements.
Edmund C. “Eddie”
Schatz was born April 9,
1930 at Drake, North
Dakota, the son of Philip
and Josephine (Kuntz)
Schatz. He lived his first
years in the Balfour area
where he attended coun-
try school. In 1941 he
moved with his family to
a farm northwest of Drake
where he grew up and at-
tended Guthrie Public
School. Eddie began help-
ing his parents on the
farm at an early age.
On November 10, 1953
he was married to Mary
Martin at Orrin. They
made their home north of
Drake where they farmed,
raised cattle, and milked
cows. In addition to farm-
ing, Eddie hauled cattle
for over 40 years. After
moving to Anamoose in
1996, Eddie continued to
haul cattle and assist his
son with the farming
operation.
Eddie was a member of
St. Margaret Mary Cathol-
ic Church of Drake until
moving to Anamoose
when he transferred his
membership to St Francis
Xavier Catholic Church.
He was also a member of
the Knights of Columbus
Council of Drake and the
Harvey Eagles Club.
Eddie is survived by his
wife, Mary; two sons, Ron
(Shirley) Schatz,
Anamoose, and Rodney
(Sara) Schatz, Drake; two
daughters, Renee (Tim)
Sieg, Drake and Rhonda
(Dustin) Krueger,
Bismarck; daughter-
in-law, Paula Schatz, Vel-
va; sister, Rose Koble,
Washburn; and 15
grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, and
son Roger.
