Glenn Robert Johnson,
92, Towner, died at
Augusta Place in
Bismarck on April 10,
2022. Glenn was born on
January 1, 1930 in Crary,
North Dakota to Lee and
Eva (Parker) Johnson. He
graduated from high
school and attended
North Dakota Agricultural
College in Fargo. He start-
ed worked with his father
at the grain elevator in
Starkweather, North
Dakota. Glenn married
Catherine Ann Loehr on
January 1, 1950 in
Starkweather. Glenn
served his country in the
United States Air Force
from 1951-1955. During
this time he and Cather-
ine lived in various places
around the USA. After his
discharge they lived in
Devils Lake for a time be-
fore moving to Towner in
1957. Here he worked at
the GTA Elevator and re-
tired as manager in 1995.
He was one of the found-
ers of the Towner Rodeo
and enjoyed his apprecia-
tion for his Arabian
horses at shows and rid-
ing. In his retirement, he
worked for area farmers,
did yard work, and was
the custodian at Zion
Lutheran Church in
Towner. He was dedicat-
ed to the job he had with
the City of Towner keep-
ing a strict eye at the land
fill. In later years he en-
joyed making motorcycle
rides in the area. He a
member of Zion Lutheran
Church in Towner, Amer-
ican Legion, and the
Towner Rodeo Associa-
tion.
Mr. Johnson is survived
by their children, Sandra
Popiel, Converse, Texas;
Gwendolyn Johnson,
Minot; Terry and his wife
Kari Johnson, Williston;
Sheila Follman,
Bismarck; Sheryl and her
husband Jerome Schiff,
Towner; and Peggy and
her husband Dale Keller,
Minot. Twelve grandchil-
dren and 25
great-grandchildren will
miss their grandfather. He
was preceded in death by
his wife on October 5,
2018, his parents, two sis-
ters, Doris and Evelyn,
and a brother, Gary.
Graveside services are
tentatively scheduled for
May 21, 2022 at 11:00
A.M. at Union Cemetery
in Towner.
