Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Jungling

June 16, 1933-March 26, 2022

Kenneth “Kenny” Jun-

gling, 88, Max, died on

Saturday, March 26, 2022,

at a Minot hospital. Fun-

eral services will be held

on Friday, April 1, 2022,

at 11:00 am at Our

Savior’s Lutheran Church

in Max. Burial will be at

Peace Lutheran Cemetery

in Max.

Visitation will be held

on Friday from 9 to 11 at

the church.

Kenneth Laurel Jun-

gling was born at the

home of his parents, John,

and Milda (Torno) Jun-

gling, SE of Max, ND in

Mclean County on June

16, 1933. He moved with

his parents to Upham, ND

as a young child. He at-

tended Deep River coun-

try schools in the Upham

area and Sunday School

at Bethlehem Lutheran

Church until the family

moved to the Max area in

1942. He attended Sun-

nyslope country school

through 7th grade and

continued the rest of his

schooling at Max Public

School, graduating in

1951.

Kenneth was member of

Peace Lutheran Church

and was baptized and

confirmed at that church.

He was also very active in

the Lutheran League,

church choir and taught

Sunday School. On March

9, 1958, Kenneth married

his true soul mate, Shirley

Jane Finkbeiner at Our

Savior’s Lutheran Church

in Max. They were the

first couple to be married

at the newly formed

church which was a

merger of the Peace Luth-

eran Church and Zion

Lutheran Church.

Kenneth served on the

Our Savior Church coun-

cil in many capacities in-

cluding the Max-Douglas

parish President, taught

Sunday School, Sponsor

for Lutheran League, in

the Men in Mission Group

of the church choir, and

the “Praise Band” music

group.

Kenneth was also a

farmer in the Economy

Township beginning in

1951 until his retirement

in 2004. He was also a

sub-mail carrier for 40

years and was a member

for the McLean County

Rural Carriers association.

He served on the Econo-

my township board as

clerk for 20 years. Ken-

neth was a member of the

Max Civic Club, Max Golf

Association, Max Alumni

Association, and Max

Community Choir and

was a life-member of the

Minot Elks Lodge 1089. In

their “spare time,” Ken-

neth and Shirley provided

foster care for the Special

Education Program for

several years.

He was preceded in

death by his parents,

beloved wife, Shirley, sis-

ter, Lila Jungling, and

brother-in-law and

sist-in-law, Norman, and

Bonnie Finkbeine.
