Richard Emmet Counts
(Dick) passed away Febru-
ary 13, 2022 peacefully at
Benefis Peace Hospice in
Great Falls, Montana at
the age of 62.
Richard was born on
March 18, 1959 in Butte,
Montana to Lewis (Bud)
and Wilma Bentz Counts.
He married Colleen
Pounds (Cooper) February
16, 1985 in Havre, Mont.
The couple welcomed two
children during their un-
ion. They later divorced
in 1996. His children
remember him as a great
cook and outdoorsman.
They recall fond child-
hood memories of fishing
and camping trips with
their dad.
Richard was an accom-
plished and talented chef
and often liked to show
off his skills at family
gatherings. Richard was
happiest when he was
cooking for family and
friends. He was also an
avid animal lover.
Richard is survived by
his son Tyler Counts of
Minot and his daughter
Heather Hammer (Ethan)
of Minot and two
grandchildren, Chase and
Courtney, his siblings
Sandra Shaw (Hal) of Bil-
lings, Mont.; Dennis
Counts(Dee) of Sioux
Falls, S.D.; Bernard
Counts (Sharon) of Great
Falls, Mont.; Kay
McTavish(Tim) of Rapid
City, S.D., as well as
numerous nieces and
nephews.
He is preceded in death
by his parents Lewis
(Bud) and Wilma; a broth-
er, Lewis Lundy Counts of
Livingston, Mont.; and
sister Pamela Seright of
Great Falls, Mont.
A funeral is not
scheduled at this time.

homeless shelter. The
family would like to thank
all the volunteers and
staff at the Great Falls
Rescue Mission and the
staff and caregivers from
Peace Hospice for all of
