Lena Richter, 96, or as
she would say “almost
97”, passed away Friday,
February 18, 2022, sur-
rounded by her family at
St. Therese at Oxbow
Lake, Brooklyn Park, MN.
Magdalen “Lena” Marie
Duchsherer was born
March 31, 1925, in Rugby,
ND, to Andrew and Rose
(Brossart) Duchsherer.
Lena grew up on the
family farm in the
Balfour/Karlsruhe area,
where she attended coun-
try school. She married
John Richter on June 19,
1956, at St. Leo The Great
Roman Catholic Church,
Minot, ND. They made
their home in Minot. John
and Lena were members
of Little Flower Catholic
Church. John passed away
April 16, 2002. In October
of 2006, she moved to
Brooklyn Park, MN, to be
near her family. Lena
lived in Independent Liv-
ing at St. Therese at Ox-
bow Lake until the spring
of 2021, shortly after her
96th birthday, when she
transferred to the Care
Center at St. Therese at
Oxbow Lake.
Lena is survived by her
son, Darrell (Kathy)
Richter, Brooklyn Park,
MN; her daughter, Diane
(Bill) Schuster and twin
granddaughters, Kayla
and Kendra Schuster, who
she would always call
“My Girls”, Apple Valley,
MN; brother, Jack
(Florence) Duchsherer,
Velva, ND; sister-in-law,
Magdalena Duchsherer,
Drake, ND; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Lena was preceded in
death by her husband,
John Richter; parents, An-
drew and Rose Duchsher-
er; brothers, Frank, Eusta-
chius, Anton, Johnny,
Mike, Joe, and one infant
brother; sisters, Frances
Thomas, Kay Ziegler and
one infant sister;
brothers-in-law, Joe Tho-
mas and John Ziegler;
sisters-in-law, AnnaMarie
Duchsherer, Dorothy
Duchsherer, Karene
Duchsherer and Pat
Duchsherer.
Visitation will be Fri-
day, February 25, 2022, 5
p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thomp-
son Larson Funeral Home,
Minot
Vigil Prayer Service
will be Friday, February
25, 2022, 7 p.m., at
Thompson Larson Funeral
Home., Minot.
Mass of Christian Buri-
al is Saturday, February
26, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at
Little Flower Catholic
Church, Minot.
In lieu of flowers,
memorials are preferred
to Little Flower Catholic
Church or Bishop Ryan
Catholic School.
