Lake formerly of the

Webster/Edmore ND area

passed away on Sunday,

February 20, 2022, at the

Lutheran Home of the

Good Shepherd in New

Rockford, ND. Visitation

for Betty will be on Fri-

day, February 25, 2022, at

the Gilbertson Funeral

Home, Devils Lake ND

from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00

p.m. Funeral Services

will be on Saturday,

February 26, 2022, at St.

Olaf Lutheran Church,

Devils Lake with Re-

verend Reuben Schnaidt

officiating. Burial will be

in the Bethel Lutheran

Cemetery, rural Lawton,

ND in the spring.

Elizabeth Mae Roberts

was born on April 8,

1929, the daughter of

Dorothy (Rosenthal) and

Clarence Roberts of Eck-

man, ND. Her mother

passed away eight days

after her birth and then

shortly after she became a

foster daughter of Mary

(Joern) and Ernest Gessner

of Russell, ND, both

mothers were second

cousins. She attended

school in Russell for ten

years and then moved to

Kramer, ND with her

parents and graduated

from Kramer High School

in 1947.

She was baptized and

confirmed at St. Johns

Lutheran Church of rural

Upham, ND. She was em-

ployed with Northwestern

Bell Telephone Company,

working in Bottineau,

Bismarck and Fargo, ND.

Betty met and married

her husband Carl Arthur

Kalhagen after World War

II as he was a student and

veteran in Fargo. They

were married October 1,

1955, and lived and

farmed in the

Webster/Edmore area all

their married life. Carl

Arthur passed away Sep-

tember 19, 1993. They

had moved to Devils Lake

a short time before his

death.

ND, Joann Teigan, Wahoo,

NE, Bonnie (Larry) Job,

Everest KS, Sandra (Vir-

gil) Gilseth, Kenmare, ND;

half-brothers James (Janet)

Roberts, Troy KS and Ter-

ence (Sue) Roberts also of

Minot; and many nieces
