Cheryl Thomas
Nov. 30, 1946-Jan. 11, 2022
Cheryl Thomas, 75,
Minot, ND, passed away
Tuesday, January 11,
2022, at Trinity Hospital
in Minot.
Some say she looked
like Diane Keaton, others
thought Blythe
Danner … but she was
more beautiful … she was
Cheryl Thomas. She took
her fashion cues from no
one. She wore what she
wanted from quirky Con-
verse sneakers to some of
the funnest eyeglasses she
could find. She loved her
powder pink and leopard
prints and that’s what
made her unique.
Cheryl was always a
fun-loving person, the bell
of the ball since high
school actually. She and
her gang of girls sure
made a stir about
town … always getting in a
little bit of trouble or as
she would say it was
“good, clean fun.”
Cheryl went to work at
Sullivan’s Flowers at the
age of 20, where she met
and then married her first
husband, John “Pat” Sul-
livan. Pat had two
daughters of his own, and
together they brought Keli
Jo into the world. Howev-
er, after five years, they
parted ways. Sometime
later, she met the man,
the legend, Lowell Tho-
mas aka “LT”. They fell in
love and together they
had three children, Sa-
mantha, CJ and Courtney.
She was a loving wife and
best friend to LT for 46
years and a loving mother.
Cheryl had a colorful
work life … after the flower
shop, she worked in radio
sales, then she opened a
maternity store down-
town, called Sax First
Avenue … but since there
were little ones running
around, she decided to be
a homemaker for a few
years. While staying home
wasn’t her cup of tea, she
and Lowell decided to
purchase The Riviera
Lounge. They ran the bar
together in the mid 80’s.
When they sold that in 87,
she and LT took a hiatus
and they took the family
on an epic, Alaskan road
trip, and then another
road trip to Florida for a
couple of weeks in what
the family so lovingly
called their motorhome,
The Turtle. You can prob-
ably guess why? Within a
few years, Cheryl was
feeling the need to do
something more and de-
cided to go back to school.
The year her oldest
daughter, Keli, was a
senior at MSU, Cheryl en-
rolled as a freshman.
Cheryl dove into her
books for four years and
graduated Sum Cum
Laude with a bachelor’s
degree in Psychology and
began her career as an
Addictions Counselor. In
her career as an AC she
worked for Trinity, North
Central Human Services,
Northwest Human Ser-
vices, A.D.A.P.T.
Behavioral Therapy, and
she also help develop a
smoking cessation pro-
gram in Minot. She re-
tired from Parshall
Resource Center in 2017.
Cheryl enjoyed doing so
many things … she had a
love for horses from an
early age. She had several
of her own that she rode
and showed. She loved
playing softball, shooting
pool and throwing darts.
She had a passion for gar-
dening and fishing for
walleye and northern
pike. That woman could
filet a fish like no other!
But most of all, she en-
joyed time with her
family … her kids and her
grandkids. She attended
every sporting event and
concert she could.
Cheryl was an amazing
woman in life and will be
in death. She will be
greatly missed.
Cheryl is preceded in
death by her father, Tom
Anderson; and mother,
Esther (Peggy Boles).
She is survived by sis-
ter, Judith (Gary) Bell,
husband, Lowell “LT”
Thomas; son, CJ (Laura)
Thomas; daughters, Keli
(Kristi) Rosselli-Sullivan,
Samantha Morse, Court-
ney (Josh) Dombrowski;
Bertie, her golden doodle;
and grandchildren, Cole-
ton Morse, Juleah Morse
and Hunter Anderson; her
101 year old
mother-in-law, Ann
Armstrong.
