Twyla Schalesky, 90,
Minot, passed away
Wednesday, November
24, 2021 at her home.
Twyla was born on Oc-
tober 19, 1931 in Bantry,
ND to Roscoe and Emma
(Halley) Rhodes. She lived
in Bantry until she was 10
when her family moved to
Minot. It was a tough
move, going from a small
town to the “big” city of
Minot.
Times were tough. Twy-
la finished the 10th grade
before she started work-
ing. Her first job was at
the Toot’N’ Tell’M. She
worked at another cafe be-
fore becoming a Nurses’
Aide at Trinity Hospital.
Twyla also taught Sunday
school at the Salvation
Army.
On August 30th 1950,
Twyla was united in mar-
riage to Dennis Schalesky.
They were able to cele-
brate 71 years together.
Twyla had recently cele-
brated her 90th birthday
on October 19.
Twyla loved being a
housewife and raising her
kids. She always wanted
the very best for her chil-
dren and her family.
Twyla is survived by:
her husband, Dennis
Schalesky, Minot; sons,
Craig Schalesky, Burling-
ton, ND and Timothy (An-
gie) Schalesky, Wiscon-
sin; daughters, Carmen
(Jackson) Popiel, Carrol-
ton, TX, Tammy Schale-
sky, Minot, and Lisa
(Mark) Lisberg, Williston,
ND; daughter-in-law San-
dy Schalesky, Johnstown,
PA; brother, Roscoe
(Beatrice) Rhodes, Minot;
14 grandchildren; 31
great-grandchildren; 3
great-great grandchildren;
and numerous other ex-
tended family.
She was preceded in
death by: her parents;
son, Rickie Schalesky;
brother, Chester “Bud”
(Helga) Rhodes; sisters,
Evelyn Rhodes, Theta
Jean (Fay) Myers, Jacqui-
line Rhodes, Olive (John)
Fulton, Beverly (Paul)
Schalesky, Frances (Doug)
Carr, and Leila Rhodes;
and other extended fami-
ly.
A funeral service will
be held on Wednesday,
December 1, 2021 at 11
a.m. at the
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home Chapel in
Minot. The service will be
livestreamed for the pub-
lic to view and can be ac-
cessed by going to

Burial will follow the ser-
vice at Sunset Memorial
Park in Minot. Visitation
will be held on Tuesday,
November 30, 2021 from
5-7 p.m. at the
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home in Minot with a
prayer service to follow at
