Terri Duchsherer
July 12, 1972-Nov. 13, 2021
Terri (Petry) Duchsher-
er, 49, Minot, ND, passed
away Saturday, November
13, 2021 at Trinity Hospi-
tal in Minot.
Terri was so excited to
come into this world on
July 12, 1972 that she ar-
rived 8 weeks earlier than
her due date. In true Ter-
ri fashion she was the first
baby in the NICU at Trini-
ty Hospital. She was the
loving daughter to Robert
and JoAnn (Balerud) Petry
and was raised in Minot.
She attended and was
confirmed at Christ Luth-
eran Church. She was
proud to be a Perkett Pan-
ther, Minot Magician and
a Minot State University
Beaver.
Growing up Terri loved
playing with Cabbage
Patch dolls, so much so
that her parents went all
the way to Canada to get
her one because they were
sold out in the United
States. When she was ten,
she received a real-life
doll, her sister Traci. She
treated her like her very
own. She was protective,
loving, dressed her, and
made sure she knew how
much she loved her. She
loved her beloved dogs
Penny, Soxsy and Sam-
my. Her love for dogs
would continue
throughout her whole life.
In her high school years,
she was the track manager
and quickly received the
nickname “Pete” from her
coach Glee Mayer, and it
stuck for life.
Terri was a workhorse.
She loved working for
Todd Berning and Jeffery
Miller at M&S Conces-
sions and Coke. Todd
would still call her to this
day and say “Hey Pete, I
got a project for you” and
without hesitation she
would say “yes”. She also
loved working at the
Dakota Flat track where
she quickly took over as
the manager. The Flat
Track would hold a spe-
cial place in her heart, as
this is where her and Jim
met. This is also where
Jim chose to propose. Jim
called her down from the
tower, which she wasn’t
happy about because she
was busy and got mad at
him for interrupting her,
until he got down on one
knee and asked her to be
his.
In 1996, Terri graduated
from MSU with a
bachelors in Education.
Terri’s love of teaching
came from her beloved
mom and all the teachers
that paved the way for
her. She loved her school
kids like they were her
own. The teachers she
taught with became fami-
ly. She would do any-
thing to help out her
school, PTA, parents or a
child. The teachers, staff
and students at Longfel-
low Elementary School
were like a second family
to her.
On May 12, 2007, Terri
married the love of her
life Jim Duchsherer.
Their honeymoon took
them on a trip to Disney
World where both fell in
love with the magic. This
quickly turned into yearly
trips and a lifetime of
memories. She also loved
spending the weekends at
the racetrack, working
and watching Jim do what
he loved. On December
21st, 2012, Jim and Terri
had their perfect son Jim-
my. She loved nothing
more than being a wife
and mother. Jimmy, just
like his mama, came into
this world 3 months early.
You wouldn’t know it to
this day that their sweet
boy weighted 2 lbs 6 oz.
Jimmy was the light of
Terri’s life. Being a mom
was a dream come true.
Together, Terri, Jim and
Jimmy created many
memories that they will
hold dear to their hearts
for the days, months, and
years ahead.

cludes: husband of 14
