Robert Murray

Robert Murray, 86, Kenmare, ND, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Robert Paul Murray was born March 7, 1935, the son of John and Helen (O’Hara) Murray, in Kenmare, ND. He was raised in Kenmare and attended St. Agnes Catholic School.

Robert enlisted in the United States Navy on November 15, 1952. He proudly served his country for four active years followed by four years in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was honorably discharged March 6, 1956, having earned his Good Conduct, Navy Occupation Service, and National Defense Service medals.

He soon after began his career in Seattle, WA working for Boeing as a Riveter, hence the origin of his nickname, Rivet. Subsequent from his time in Seattle, he returned to his hometown of Kenmare, eventually finding his occupation as a brilliant mechanic. He was sought out for his impressive skills ranging from small engine repairs to fixing complex farm machinery.

Robert was married to JoAnn Gehringer for 30 years and from the union five children, Kevin, Steven, Connie, Ricky, and Christie, were born. Robert adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and in his spare time, enjoyed wood working, puzzles, bowling, playing cards, and working on cars and tractors.

Robert is survived by: his five children, Kevin (Veronica) Murray, Steven Murray, Connie Murray, Ricky Murray, and Christie (Todd) Radunsky; five grandchildren, Andru Dent, Ashlee Dent, Cassandra Bradley, Miranda Murray, and Kalen Murray; six great-grandchildren, LaZyra Chappell, Azarel Chappell Jr., Xaylia Mitchell, Olivia Bradley, Silas Bradley, and Roman Bradley; three sisters, Carolyn Harris, Diane Edwards, and Gail (Lynn) Plexico; one brother, William (Jean) Murray; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Howard and Jerry Murray; sisters, Betty Fitzgerald and Lorraine Harris.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, October 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.

Interment: St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.

Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.

Memorials: are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
