Jalen E. Ballard, 21,
Minot, passed away unex-
pectedly on Wednesday,
October 6, 2021, in his
home.
Jalen Emairi Ballard
was born January 10,
2000, in Minot, ND, the
oldest son of Jonathan and
Naomi (Moe) Turmon.
Jalen was very smart
and an extremely talented
artist. He attended Minot
High School where he let-
tered in track and later
graduated with honors.
Jalen enjoyed all types of
art and continued his edu-
cation studying art at
Minot State University. In
addition to working at
Panera Bread in Minot for
several years, Jalen was
an aspiring artist and was
actively working on a
graphic novel.
Jalen was quiet but he
loved deep. He was very
patient and truly cared
about so many. Jalen en-
joyed spending time with
family and loved enter-
taining them with his
humor. He enjoyed read-
ing, drawing anime, and
having intellectual con-
versations. He will be
missed by so many that
loved him.
Jalen was preceded in
death by his grandmoth-
ers Dianne Turmon and
Becky Odell.
In addition to his
parents, Jalen is survived
by his birth mother Tani-
ya Ballard, Columbia, SC;
siblings: Tia Moe-Ander-
son, Taylor Glibota, and
Ja’Shaun Turmon, all of
Minot, Trenell Boyd of
Winnsboro, SC, Shay’lyn
Ballard of Columbia, SC;
his paternal grandfather
George Turmon of Duluth,
GA; his maternal grand-
father Gregory Booker of
Minot; and several aunts,
uncles, and cousins.
