Ann Michelle was born
February 21st, 1983, in
Watford City to Terry and
Pam Watson. She was
raised south of Watford
City on the family farm
and loved helping her dad
outside with chores. She
loved farm life and knew
at a very young age that
she wanted to be a veteri-
narian. Ann was smart,
hard-working, and deter-
mined to succeed in what-
ever she set her mind to.
Once she knew she want-
ed to be a veterinarian
there was no stopping her.
Throughout high school
she worked at the local
veterinary clinic under
veterinarian and mentor
R.D. “Doc” Nelson. After
graduating from Watford
City High School in 2001
with honors she went on
to study at North Dakota
State University in Fargo.
While attending NDSU
she married her high
school sweetheart, Joe
Haugen, in 2003. They
later divorced. She ex-
celled at NDSU and gra-
duated with honors in
2005 with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Zoolo-
gy. Ann then chose to
pursue veterinary school
at the University of Min-
nesota and made her fam-
ily proud when she
earned her Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine de-
gree on May 2nd, 2009.
After school she moved to
Washington where she
was a veterinarian for 12
years until her passing. As
a veterinarian Ann’s pas-
sion and strong work eth-
ic touched hundreds of
people and their pets. She
poured her life into her
career to make this world
a better place for people
by caring for their com-
panions. Most will
remember Ann for her in-
tegrity and kind heart.
Ann also rescued and per-
sonally cared for several
dogs throughout her life.
Her rescue dog Zim was
faithfully by her side
when she passed. Ann
will be profoundly missed
by her family and friends.
Ann is survived by: her
parents, Terry and Pam
Watson of Grassy Butte,
ND; sister, Melissa (Ron)
Sams and daughter Julia;
brother, Kevin Watson
and son Bridger; grand-
mother, Linda Watson;
and numerous aunts, un-
cles, and cousins.
She was preceded in
death by: her
grandparents, Woodie L.
Watson and Clint and Ju-
lia Radke; and her aunt
Debra L. Radke who she
will meet in heaven.
