Robert LeRoy Carvell

passed away peacefully at

his home in Florence, Ar-

izona, on August 27,

2021.

Robert (Bob) was born

on January 19, 1933 to

Fred and Emma Carvell in

Washburn, North Dakota.

He graduated from Wash-

burn High School where

he was very active in

sports. He then attended

Lutheran Bible Institute

and Concordia College be-

fore serving 2 years in the

United States Army.

He earned his BA at

Minot State College, his

Masters at the University

of North Dakota, and his

PHD at the University of

Wisconsin. His teaching

career took him to Bergen,

ND, Kenmare, ND, Minot,

ND, University of Wiscon-

sin, Lawrence High

School and the University

of Kansas in Lawrence,

Kansas.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents and

siblings: Louise (Legg),

Myrtle (Skaff), Vivian

(Haring), Arthur, Joyce

(Lang, Bitzer), and Verna

(Davis)

Robert is survived by:

his wife, Verdella (Della)

of 61 years, four sons:

Thor (Teresa), Lee

(Brenee), Bret (Paula), and

Dwight (Michelle), 13

grandchildren and 11

great-grandchildren.
