Leslie “Jack” Berry, 90,

Minot, ND, passed away

Sunday, September 19,

2021, at Trinity Hospital

in Minot.

Leslie Leroy Berry was

born November 10, 1930,

the son of Lyle and Helen

(Spicher) Berry, on the

family farm located south

of Lonetree, ND. Jack was

raised on the farm and at-

tended school in

Lonetree. In 1948 Jack

started work with Great

Northern Railroad which

is now Burlington

Northern/Santa Fe Rail-

road as a car man and

mechanic.

Jack enlisted in the Un-

ited States Navy in 1951.

He proudly served his

country for four years,

during which time he

made several trips around

the world. Jack married

Louise H. Hennessy Janu-

ary 11, 1952.

Following his discharge

from the Navy in 1955,

Jack returned to his em-

ployment with the BNSF

in Minot. He worked in

the Gavin Yards until it

closed in 1982, at which

time he transferred with

the BNSF to Williston for

the next 10 years, retir-

ing in 1992, after 44 years.

Following his retire-

ment, they moved back to

Minot to be closer to fami-

ly. He enjoyed taking

many bus tours, traveling

coast to coast and into Ca-

nada. He also attended

many Navy reunions

throughout the United

States which occurred

every 18 months.

He was a lifetime

member of the V.F.W. in

Minot and the American

Legion in Williston.

His loving family in-

cludes: wife of 69 years,

Louise, Minot; sons, Tim

(Grace) Berry, Steve (Ivy)

Berry and Brent Berry;

daughters, Cathie (Russ)

Johnson, Connie Berry

and Laurie Berry; 12

grandchildren; 25 great

grandchildren; and two

great great-grandchildren;

sister-in-law, Elaine Mon-

ico; 3 brothers-in-law,

Francis (Jean) Hennessy,

George (Kathy) Hennessy,

and Gary (Lynn) Hen-

nessy; and numerous

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Jack was preceded in

death by: his parents;

Lyle and Helen; son, Les

Berry; daughter, DeAnn

Berry; brothers, Alvin

(Buster) Berry, Edward

Berry, Robert Berry; sis-

ters, Joy Hennessy, Fern

Kupfer; brothers-in-laws,

Lyle Hennessy, Don Hen-

nessy, Vic Monico, Chet

Kupfer; sisters-in-law,

Delores Berry, Darlene

Berry and Joan Berry.

Liturgy of the Word

Service: Monday, Sep-

tember 27, 2021, at 11:00

a.m. at Our Lady of Grace

Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Des Lacs

Cemetery, Des Lacs, ND.

Visitation: Sunday from

1 to 3 p.m. at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are pre-

ferred to any of the food

pantries in Minot or to

KALIX.
