Minot, ND, passed away
Sunday, September 19,
2021, at Edgewood Vista
in Minot.
Helen Elizabeth Wiest
was born October 19,
1934, the daughter of John
and Anna (Zerr) Wiest, in
Harvey, ND. Helen was
raised on the family farm
and graduated from Har-
vey High School in 1952.
After high school, she
worked for a time at J.O.
Smith Drug Store.
Helen married Harry S.
Iverson on August 16,
1957, at St. Cecilia’s
Catholic Church in Har-
vey. They lived in James-
town, Minot, and Sidney,
MT, where Harry worked
for the Federal Aviation
Administration. Harry re-
tired in 1986, and in 1989,
they moved back to
Minot. They spent 14
winters together in Lake
Havasu, AZ, where they
enjoyed taking numerous
trips.
She was a member of
Our Lady of Grace Cathol-
ic Church and the Altar
Society. She volunteered
for over 24 years at the
Our Lady of Grace Food
Pantry. She was also a
lifetime member of the
V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Volunteering was a very
important part of her life.
In 1986, she was named
“Volunteer of the Year”
for the Sidney Memorial
Hospital. She enjoyed
many years of bowling,
winning trophies until the
age of 79, reading, garden-
ing, planting flowers,
camping, taking long
walks and hiking, and was
an avid Scrabble player.
Helen cherished the many
close friendships she had
throughout her lifetime.
Her loving family in-
cludes: husband of 64
years, Harry, Minot; chil-
dren, Kristi Iverson,
Minot, Connie (Greg)
Semenko, Penn, ND,
Jacalyn Finnicum, Eagan,
MN, Jerald (Sandra) Iver-
son, Sugar Land, TX, Jim
Iverson, Minot, ND, and
Wendy (Kenton) Beeter,
Minot, ND; grandchildren,
Brynn (Andre) Franklin,
Handsome Jimmy (Ra-
chel) Finnicum, Erin (Juli-
an) Gonzalez, Joel Finni-
cum, Alex (Michelle) Iver-
son, Hannah Iverson, Sa-
mantha (Chris) Hagans
and Brittany Beeter;
great-grandchildren, Evan,
Xander, Audrey and Ivy
Franklin, Sam and Scarlet
Finnicum, Reece Hender-
son, and Jordyn Hagans;
brothers, Jerome (Karen)
Wiest, Washburn, ND,
and James Wiest, Harvey,
ND; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in
death by: her parents;
son-in-law, Elvin Finni-
cum; sisters, Bertha Wiest
and Lucille Keller; and
brothers, Pius and Leo
Wiest.
