David Bickler
Oct. 9, 1950-Sept. 10, 2021
David Bickler, 70,
Minot, ND passed away
peacefully after a long bat-
tle with cancer on Sep-
tember 10, 2021, at Trini-
ty Hospital in Minot.
David Allan Bickler was
born October 9, 1950, to
Wendell and Caroline
(Duchscher) Bickler and
raised on a farm near Bal-
ta, ND. David graduated
from Balta High School in
1968 and briefly attended
Minot Business College
before beginning his
career in the lumber busi-
ness. He started with
Robertson Lumber in
Minot as a truck driver in
1970, later moving to As-
sistant Manager before
taking the manager posi-
tion with Robertson
Lumber in Mayville, ND.
After two years in May-
ville, Dave and Shirley re-
turned to Minot with their
two boys and Dave con-
tinued to manage the
lumber yard in Minot un-
til Robertson Lumber
eventually closed. He
started with Minot Build-
ers Supply in 1990, and
retired in 2020, after 30
years in sales with the
company.
David shared 50 years
of marriage with the love
of his life, Shirley Reiger.
They were united in mar-
riage on October 2, 1970,
at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Orrin, ND.
From this union, two
sons, Scott and Stacey,
were born. He was a de-
voted husband and family
man who loved garden-
ing, restoring classic
Mopar cars with his sons,
and spending time on the
family farm where he
grew up. His love of cars
was something he passed
on to his two sons, Scott
and Stacey. Dave enjoyed
spending countless hours
gardening and canning
while giving most to fami-
ly and friends. He would
spend some weekends at
the family farm driving
through pastures and
picking apples for apple
pies that would be the
envy of the best bakers. If
you didn’t find Dave in
the garden, you were sure
to find him in the garage
working on cars. He was
always willing to help
Shirley whether it was
cleaning, serving, setting
up, or tearing down after
events at the Knights of
Columbus Club, where he
was a member. Dave and
Shirley were also
members of Little Flower
Catholic Church in Minot.
