Cora DeMaio
Nov. 10, 1927-Sept. 2, 2021
Cora DeMaio passed on
September 2, 2021 at the
age of 93. She was a lov-
ing wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, great and
great-great grandmother.
Cora was born November
10, 1927 in Minot North
Dakota to Donald Lamp-
man and Helen Scofield
Lampman.
Cora’s parents worked
for the WWII effort, so as
a child she traveled with
them attending school in
Minot ND, Sacramento
CA, Baker OR, and Grand
Forks ND where she gra-
duated from high school.
Later in life, she attended
classes at Yuba College
Marysville. She was a
Life Member of Beta Sig-
ma Phi Sorority.
Cora worked for 12
years at the 1st National
Bank in Minot. It was
there that she met her fu-
ture husband Anthony
“Tony” DeMaio, an Air-
Force Ssgt. stationed at
Kincheloe AFB Michigan,
while he was training in
Minot AFB.
Cora and son, Lynn
traveled to Michigan,
where she and Tony mar-
ried on July 6, 1962 in the
base chapel.
Cora loved being a mili-
tary wife even with its
many hardships. She
made lasting friendships
and was loved by many
that she touched. Their fi-
nal Air Force move was to
Beale AFB in Marysville
CA, in July 1965 until
Tony’s retirement in June
1975. The choice was
made to continue living in
the area and they opened
a Real Estate business in
Yuba City, CA. After 25
years in 1999 they made a
move to Bigfork, Montana
on Flathead Lake. Cora
loved living in Montana
engaging in the outdoors
camping, wildlife viewing
and boating. It was there
that she joined the Coast
Guard Auxiliary serving 6
years as a crew member
and instructor. In 2007,
to be closer to family, she
and Tony moved to
Grants Pass, Oregon
where she spent her final
years. Cora and Tony
were married 59 years.
Throughout Cora’s’ life
she had many interests
and hobbies. Drawing ar-
chery, ceramics, she most
enjoyed making beautiful
pinecone Christmas
Wreaths, that she regular-
ly gifted to friends and
family of the years. She
always had animals and
many pets in her life. The
last one being her dog,
“Tuffy”.
Cora was preceded in

The world will not be
the same without her
twinkling eyes, brilliant
smile and lighting up
every room she entered.
She will be missed by
many and the memory of
her will not fade away
especially for her long-
time partner, Tony.
Those we love don’t go
away
They walk beside us
every day
Unseen unheard but al-
ways near
So loved, so missed so
very dear.
