Rick Edward Demchuk

Feb. 8, 1963-July 18, 2021

Rick Edward Demchuk,

58, Minot, ND, passed

away Sunday, July 18,

2021, at his home.

Rick was born on

February 8, 1963 in

Minot, ND, a son of Ed-

ward and Stefina (Martin)

Demchuk. He was raised

in Minot and graduated

from Minot High in 1981.

He attended NDSCS in

Wahpeton, ND, pursing a

trade in diesel mechanics.

We often said Rick’s

blood ran green as he was

a staunch supporter of the

quality of John Deere pro-

ducts. Rick was a very

dedicated employee at

Ward County Implement

and while working there

he acquired numerous

certifications and became

an efficient technician. He

later worked for

Gooseneck Implement

and also Magic City Im-

plement. When his health

impeded full time work

he helped out at both the

Liebelt and Zenz farms,

Smitty’s Repair, The Trad-

ing Post, Trinity Hospital,

The Nodak Speedway,

and was always doing

mechanic work out of his

dad’s garage.

Family friend Robert

Rosselli recruited Rick to

drive a race car and Rick

excelled as a Pro IV

Mini-Mod Driver. He

raced throughout the state

and won several track

championships.

In 1992 at McLean

County Speedway he met

Michelle Zenz, as she

handed him a trophy, and

they married July 19,

1996. They were blessed

with two children, Eric

and Aimee. Rick became a

“chauffeur” as his open

schedule allowed him to

run the kids to and from

school, practices, and

anywhere else they

desired. He had infinite

patience as he waited on

location, playing electric

solitaire or shooting the

breeze with those around

him. You didn’t have to

know Rick long before he

told you what happened

to Charlie Tuna, as he

gleefully told that particu-

lar joke over and over

(and over!).

Rick was a fan of NAS-

CAR races, and the Min-

nesota Twins. He appreci-

ated listening to NPR ra-

dio and watching the His-

tory Channel. He had

three favorite movies he

repeatedly watched as

they came on TV. He en-

joyed rescuing neighbor-

hood cats and named one

of his cats Two Socks

despite it not having two

socks, as he was Rick’s

sidekick just as the wolf

was to Lieutenant Dunbar.

His loving family in-

cludes: Wife, Michelle;

son, Eric Demchuk;

daughter, Aimee Dem-

chuk (Ethan Benham), all

of Minot; sister, Carelyn

(Dale) Anderson, Devils

Lake; brother, Randy

(Candy) Demchuk, Garris-on; mother-in-law, Edna

Zenz, Minot; and

numerous aunts, uncles,

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

He was preceded in

death by: his parents; his

father-in-law, John Zenz;

and his niece, Brooke

Schroeder.

The family is especially

grateful to Joren Boyce at

this time.
