Marie Vollmer
April 26, 1937-June 19, 2021
Marie Vollmer, 84,
Norwich, ND, passed
away Saturday, June 19,
2021, in her home.
Marie Anna Korgel was
born April 26, 1937, the
daughter of Jesse and Ger-
trude (Frost) Korgel, in
Eureka Township, Ward
County, ND. She attended
Eureka Township School
and graduated from St.
Leo’s Catholic School.
On May 18, 1956, Marie
married Duane F. Vollmer
in Minot, ND. Before their
children were born, she
worked as a medical tran-
scriptionist. They spent
their lives farming, ranch-
ing and raising their six
children on the Vollmer
homestead. Anybody who
knew Marie will
remember the many hours
she spent operating all
types of farm equipment.
She spent many hours
driving the combine, bal-
ing hay, hauling small
square bales, swathing
grain and driving tractor.
In the 90’s, she went back
to doing medical tran-
scription for about 10
years.
Marie and Duane en-
joyed heading to one of
the local casinos to try
their luck. We only heard
about the wins and not
the losses. Maybe that was
for the best.
Marie took great pride
in her children, their
spouses and their fami-
lies, commenting on their
great work ethic and char-
acter. Marie was very
proud of her large family.
She was a member of
the Norwich Ladies Birth-
day Club. She enjoyed
crocheting, knitting, puz-
zles, word searches, adult
colored pencil art and
canning – especially her
famous, “Molly Sauce.”
Her loving family in-
cludes: children, Cindy
