2021 at Minot Health and
Rehab, Manor Care Nurs-
ing Home, Minot, ND.
Lawrence “Larry” Lloyd
Jessen was born March
28, 1938, the son of Chris-
tian and Martha Jo (Neve)
Jessen at the Jessen farm
near Niobe, ND. He was
raised on the family farm,
and attended rural
schools near Niobe
through the eighth grade.
He began attending Ken-
mare High School, gra-
duating in 1956.
On June 14, 1959 Larry
was united in marriage to
his high school sweet-
heart, Arlene Anderson at
Nazareth Lutheran
Church in Kenmare, ND.
The couple made their
home in Kenmare for the
past 62 years, recently
moving to Rosen Place as-
sisted living in Stanley,
ND.
Larry’s ambition in life
was dedicated to his 45
years with the Farmers
Union Oil Co. Kenmare.
He started in 1956 and re-
tired in 2002 as a
Machinery salesman and
assistant manager of the
company. In addition, he
was passionate for farm-
ing, and would work
weekends or when time
allowed with his special
cousin and friend, Russell
Jessen. He continued to
farm until 2006. Larry
also started up Big
Springs Elk Ranch in 1995
with his family and the
Lyndon Nelson family un-
til selling in 2008.
Larry much enjoyed life
at Lake Sakakawea with
family and friends. He en-
joyed early morning and
all day fishing. He loved
his grandchildren and
was extremely proud of
them, through their ac-
complishments.
Family that loves him
and will miss him in-
clude:
His wife of 62 years, Ar-
lene; son: Randy (Janet)
Jessen; daughter, Kristie
Harris; grandchildren,
Kyle (Sarah) Jessen, Ryan
Jessen, Macie (fiancÈe
Clay Nelson) Harris, and
Hunter Harris;
great-grandson, Ethyn S.
Jessen; brothers, Robert
(Susan) Jessen, Kenmare,
Ernie (Janet) Jessen,
Denver, CO, and William
(Rose) Jessen, Mesa, AZ;
and several nieces,
nephews and cousins also
survive.
Larry was preceded in
death by his parents.
Graveside Service:
Wednesday, June 23,
2021, at 11 am at
Lakeview Cemetery, Ken-
mare. Friends may sign a
guest register one hour
prior to the service at the
cemetery.
