Donald Jessen
March 21, 1952-June 15, 2021
Donald F. Jessen, 69,
Minot, passed peacefully
into the loving arms of
Jesus surrounded by his
family at home on Tues-
day, June 15, 2021.
Donald Fredrick Jessen
was born on March 21,
1952, a son of Donald and
Marian E. (Samuelson)
Jessen, in Wadena, MN.
He was followed by one
sister and four brothers.
He grew up in a busy,
happy family.
When Donald was in
the 8th grade, his parents
built a home in Robin-
wood Estates, rural Minot.
He started attending Des
Lacs High School and gra-
duated in 1971. That is
where he met his lifetime
love and partner, Marcia.
They were married young
on January 6, 1971. They
celebrated their 50th an-
niversary this year.
The couple moved to
Minneapolis where Don
went to work for his uncle
Marvin, then left for an
adventure in Montana,
then back to Minneapolis,
then came home to North
Dakota where they
belonged!
In 1979, Don loaded up
which was now a family
of 5 and went to Tulsa,
OK to attend Tulsa School
of Welding. He also
worked at Southwest Plas-
tics where he met three
young men who were at-
tending Oral Roberts
University. That is where
Don learned about accept-ing Jesus as Lord and Sa-
vior, which he did.
In coming back to North
Dakota, he thought he
would work as a certified
welder, which he did for a
time but God had a dif-
ferent plan. In 1981,
Jessen Roofing, Inc. was
born and is celebrating 40
years this year.
Don enjoyed hunting,
fishing, golf, horseback
riding, Bible study, spend-
ing time with his family,
fast cars and the 4th of
July.
Don had many health
challenges starting at the
age of 45. He dealt with a
lot of pain and loss of his
ability to do the things he
loved. Despite all of this,
he never complained and
remained a faithful in-
spiration to the very end.
Please don’t be sad for
too long-be happy for him
because he is free, whole
and in the presence of the
Lord!
