William Schroeder
Aug. 19, 1929-May 7, 2021
William “Bill”
Schroeder, 91, of Parshall
and Minot, died Friday,
May 7, 2021 at a Minot
hospital.
William Wayne
Schroeder was born Au-
gust 19, 1929, to Edward
and Reba (Hardacre)
Schroeder, on the family
farm, south of Parshall.
He attended country
school and graduated
from Parshall High School
in 1947. He then contin-
ued his education at
Minot State before return-ing to Parshall to farm.
Bill was united in mar-
riage to Myra Hovey, in
Parshall, on June 19,
1949. They made their
home on the family home-
stead where he and his fa-
ther farmed and ranched.
Bill also drove semi-truck
during the winter months.
Bill and Myra moved to
Minot in 1992 after retir-
ing and later moved to as-
sisted living at The View
in 2009. However, Bill
continued to help his son
with harvest. Myra passed
away in 2012. Bill was
then blessed with a
second marriage to
Delight Macias in 2014
who later passed in 2019.
Bill loved fishing and
enjoyed grouse hunting.
His favorite hobby was
woodworking from build-
ing furniture, crafting
items like pens, and whit-
tling. He whittled an en-
tire town of caricatures
with many resembling
family and friends. Bill
even convinced The View
to convert a room to be
used just for woodwork-
ing. He had many talents
which also included play-
ing piano.
Bill had a great sense of
humor and was truly a
gentle man. He enjoyed
visiting people and being
active. He serviced on the
Fertile Township board
for many years and was a
member of the United
Church of Christ in
Parshall. He had a strong
faith and would watch
weekly service when he
was unable to attend.
In 2019, Bill moved
back to the family home-
stead to live with his son,
John. With his license
renewed, he took almost
daily drives to view the
lake and to check their
land. He was able to enjoy
his final harvest in 2020.
Blessed be his memory
among us.
