Rick Tkachenko, 57,
Minot died on Wednes-
day, May 5, 2021 in his
home.
Ricky James Tkachenko
was born on July 1, 1962
in Minot to William Jr.
and Helen (Solar) Tka-
chenko. He was raised in
Minot and graduated from
Minot High School in
1980. As a young adult he
was employed by Earth-
works, his brother’s busi-
ness in Alaska, Mariner
Drilling and as a seismic
driller in North Dakota,
Montana and Alaska.
More recently, he had
been employed by Sundre
Sand and Gravel, as a
millwright at the canola
plant near Velva and was
self-employed as Rick’s
Bobcat Service. He spe-
cialized in small excavat-
ing projects as well as
rock work and retaining
walls. He was known as
an excellent mechanic
and bobcat operator.
Rick especially enjoyed
hunting, fishing, playing
pool and spending time
with his canine compan-
ions Zach and Cheetah.
Rick is survived by his
siblings: Billie (Carter)
Myre of Lake Metigoshe
and Randy Tkachenko
(Cheryl Wickstrom) of
Kenai, AK. He was pre-
ceded in death by his
parents, sister Mari Anne
Sansour and brothers
Lauren Teschner and
Lance Tkachenko.
A celebration of Rick’s
life will take place at a
later date.
An informal booksign-
ing will be held on Fri-
day, May 14, 2021 from
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in
Thomas Family Funeral
