May “Jean” Parish, 95,
Minot, ND, passed away
Saturday, April 10, 2021,
at her residence.
May Jean was born De-
cember 2, 1925, the
daughter of Harold Ernest
and Effie Laura (Morrison)
Robertson in Bathgate,
ND. She was raised and
educated in Bathgate gra-
duating from Bathgate
High School. She moved
to Cleveland, Ohio, where
she graduated from a
business college there.
She then went to work for
a plumbing company in
Pittsburgh, PA.
May Jean married Rex
Parish in Bathgate, ND on
August 8, 1948. They had
two sons, Harold and Lar-
ry. They lived in Grand
Forks, Devils Lake, New
Rockford, Bismarck,
Jamestown until moving
to Minot in 1964. In
Minot she worked at the
University of North Dako-
ta Minuteman School at
Minot Air Force Base for
24 years, where she was
appreciated for her hard
work and competence.
Rex passed away June
26, 2008 and May Jean
continued to live in Minot
until her death.
Jean was a long time
member of All Saints Ep-
iscopal Church, Minot,
where she was very ac-
tive, particularly in the
Women’s Evening Guild,
holding various officer po-
sitions over time. She
liked to try new recipes,
and made the best bars
and cookies, which she
generously shared with
her church, family, and
friends. She liked staying
active, both physically
and mentally, with gar-
dening, yard work, and
reading, along with bowl-
ing and golf with friends
who appreciated her
humor and keen wit. She
was a member of the
Prairie Quilt Guild, and
made beautiful quilts,
creating treasured keep-
sakes for her grandchil-
dren and children.
Her loving family in-
cludes: Son, Harold Par-
ish, Minot, ND;
Daughter-in-law, Peggy
Maxwell, Richville, MN;
Grandchildren :
Chanomi Maxwell-Parish
(Frank Steed), Jeremy
Maxwell-Parish (Lindsey
Scherloum), and Andrew
Maxwell-Parish (Alex
Buzo). one Great-
grandchild, Edith Jean
and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
May Jean was preced-
ed in death by her
parents; husband, Rex,
son, Larry Parish, brothers
and sisters, William,
Edna, Elizabeth, Lois,
James and Donald.
