Marlan R. Engstrom, 69,
Minot, passed away Sun-
day, April 11, 2021 in a
Minot hospital with his
family by his side. Marlan
Royce Engstrom was born
on June 27, 1951, a son of
Noel and Rachel (Weston)
Engstrom in Minot, ND.
He was raised and educat-ed in Antler, where he
graduated from Antler
High School in 1970. Fol-
lowing his graduation, he
began working within the
construction field, work-
ing for B and G Construc-
tion until 1990. In 1990,
he returned to college, at-
tending Minot State
University where in 1995,
he graduated with honors,
earning a Bachelor’s of
Science degree in educa-
tion, He was a history
teacher within the Minot
Public Schools until his
retirement in 2017. On
December 29, 2015, Mar-
lan was united in mar-
riage to Dawn Johnson.
They made their home in
Minot, where together
they enjoyed fishing,
spending time with fami-
ly, especially the
grandchildren and attend-ing their activities. He
also enjoyed hunting, the
annual tradition of mak-
ing potato sausage, doing
sudoku puzzles and his
morning bike rides. Mar-
lan is survived by: Wife
Dawn; Daughters Trisha
Engstrom, Melody Shel-
key; Grandchildren:
Alexis and Kaitlyn Hol-
man, Riley Lefever and
Keira Shelkey; Sister: Kim
(Dean)Rosberg; step- chil-
dren: Jared Lord and John
Johnson;brothers-in-law
Jerry Jacobs and Gary
Hunter several nieces,
nephews and cousins also
survive. He was preceded
in death by his parents, a
brother Renny Engstrom,
and sisters Connie Jacobs
and Judy Hunter. Visita-
tion: There will be no re-
viewal, as cremation has
taken place, however,
people may sign a guest
register on Saturday,
April 17, 2021 from 10 am
until service time at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot
Memorial Service: Satur-
day, April 17, 2021 at 11
am at Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home Chapel,
Minot. All local CDC
guidelines will be fol-
lowed. The memorial ser-
vice will be livestreamed
