James Hogan

Aug. 19, 1945-April 15, 2021

James Hogan, 75,

Minot, ND, passed away

Thursday, April 15, 2021

at Trinity Health.

James “Jim” Ronald

Hogan was born on Au-

gust 19, 1945 in Prince-

ton, KY. A son of James E.

and Jean W. Hogan, he

was raised and educated

in Kentucky, graduating

from Madisonville High

School in 1963. Because

of the lack of available

jobs at the time, and after

the assassination of John

F. Kennedy, Jim decided

to join the military. He

spoke to all of the military

branches before choosing

the Air Force.

On January 7, 1964 he

enlisted into the United

States Air Force and be-

gan his career as a

Weapons Systems Techni-

cian. He proudly served

his country until his

honorable discharge on

January 31, 1984, and re-

tired at the rank of Master

Sergeant. He then went on

to do 30 additional years

of civilian service, equat-

ing to over 50 years of ser-

vice to the USAF. During

his civilian service, Jim

earned his Master’s degree

in Administration from

Central Michigan Univer-

sity, along with countless

other degrees and certifi-

cations.

On December 31, 1981

Jim was united in mar-

riage to Joni Hansen. They

made their home in

Minot, where they raised

their children and

remained until their

deaths. They enjoyed

driving across the country

to visit historical land-

marks and popular attrac-tions, and try new restau-

rants. Going to the bar

where “Cheers” was

filmed was a vacation

they often reminisced

about. Joni passed away

on December 5, 2020. To-

wards the end of Joni’s

life, Jim was an excellent

caregiver, and made us all

even more proud of him

than we already were.

Jim enjoyed riding

motorcycles, and was a

former member of the

Ramblers Motorcycle Club

of Ray, ND. He also en-

joyed Corvettes, old

western movies, traveling,

cooking and shooting

guns. His laugh and smile

were contagious, and

everyone gravitated to-

wards him. Jim was al-

ways the person you

could count on if you

needed him. He was a

dedicated husband, fa-

ther, grandfather, brother

and friend, and will be

missed by all that knew

him.

In lieu of flowers,

please consider a dona-

tion to the Disabled Amer-

ican Veterans.
