David Rust

David Rust, 58, Minot,
ND, passed away on Mon-
day, April 5, 2021, in his
home.
David Lynn Rust was
born September 25, 1962,
the son of Franklin and
Darlene (Hayden) Rust at
Ft. Benning, GA. He was
raised and educated in Ft.
Riley, KS, until 1973,
when he and his family
moved to Minot. He was
baptized and confirmed at
Zion Lutheran Church in
Minot.
David enlisted in the
U.S. Army in September
of 1979 and was honor-
ably discharged in Sep-
tember of 1982 at Fort Ri-
ley, KS.
On April 11, 1980, Da-
vid was united in mar-
riage to Barbara Wilcox.
From this union, three
children, Jeremy, Jason
and Jennifer, were born.
After his time in the
service, David worked
with his father at Rust Ap-
pliance Repair from 1982
– 1993. He then began his
career with the BNSF
Railroad. He worked vari-
ous jobs with the BNSF,
but most recently was a
track inspector.
David was a member of
the Brotherhood of
Maintenance of Way Em-
ployees Division of the
International Brotherhood
of Teamsters, the Minot
American Legion Post
#26, the I.O.O.F #45, the
Moose Lodge, and the Pa-
triot Guard.
David enjoyed racing
and competed at the No-
dak Speedway in Minot
for 3 years. He also en-
joyed camping, fishing,
riding his
Harley-Davidson motorcy-cle, and spending time
with his family.
David is survived by:
his wife, Barbara, Minot;
mother, Darlene Rust,
Minot; sons, Jeremy Rust,
Lansford, ND and Jason
(Andrea) Rust, Minot;
daughter, Jennifer Rust,
Duluth, MN; grandchil-
dren; Amity, Mason,
Shante, Jaxson, Thomas,
Julie, Dallas, and Leland;
great-grandson, Kashton
Rust; brother, Danny
(Paula) Rust, Minneapolis,
MN; nephew, Quinn Rust;
and numerous aunts, un-
cles, and cousins.
He was preceded in
death by: his
grandparents, Dan and
Mable Hayden and Ernest
and Charlotte Rust; father,
Franklin Rust;
father-in-law, William
Wilcox; aunts, LaVonne
Whorley and Connie
Moran; and cousins, Bon-
nie Beeter and Julie
Moran.
Due to Covid restric-
tions, there will be a
Private Family Memorial
Service by Invitation:
Monday, April 12, 2021,
at 11:00 a.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home Church, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday
from noon to 3 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of
flowers, memorials are
preferred.
