Susan Summers
Feb. 4, 1951-March 8, 2021
Susan Summers, 70,
Minot, ND, passed away
Monday, March 8, 2021,
in her home.
Susan Anita Bruhn was
born February 4, 1951, the
daughter of Harold and
Gladys “Happy” (Aasen)
Bruhn, in Reno, Nevada.
Sue was raised in Minot,
ND and graduated class of
’69 from Minot High
School.
Susan married George
Summers on November
11, 1968 in Minot, ND.
They made their home in
Minot, where they raised
their four children, Dana,
Dawn, Pete and Robby.
Sue began her working
career with Twin City
Freight for eight years.
She then went to work for
Bacon Signs for thirty
years in sales, where she
achieved top salesperson
status for a couple of
years.
Growing up, Sue had
horses and loved to ride,
and became a collector of
all things horses.
Throughout her life she
was very active at Zion
Lutheran Church, ringing
hand bells and directing
hand bells for twenty
years. She was a member
of Zion Lutheran Church,
Minot, ND, Wreath’s
Across America, Book
Club, and Daughters of
Norway, serving as one of
the founding members of
the Mina Aasen Lodge in
Minot, ND.
Sue was very dedicated
to her children, grandchil-dren and
great-grandchildren, cele-
brating all their achieve-
ments and encouraging
them always to be and do
their very best. She al-
ways tried to attend all
the activities and events
for them that she could,
claiming it was what kept
her young and active.
Sue very much enjoyed
riding motorcycle, stating
she was one of the first fe-
males in North Dakota to
get her motorcycle
license. Most recently Sue
and George purchased a
Mustang convertible and
enjoyed cruising Broad-
way on cruise nights
along with the Dakota
Cruisers Car Club.
One of her most favorite
things to do was having
family and friends over,
especially in the summer,
visiting in her backyard
on the patio. She enjoyed
her flowers and loved
showing them off to
everyone. Sue was an avid
book reader and loved
reading. She enjoyed
spending as much time
with her grandkids as she
could.
Sue is famous for her
“Grandma’s Burritos” and
fried tacos, feeding any
and all who came to her
home. The family favorite
holiday was “Donut Day”
also known as Labor Day.
All her kids and
grandchildren and
great-grandchildren came
home for Donut Day! Sue
was certainly in her ele-
ment whenever she was
with family.
Her loving family in-
cludes: husband of 52
years, George, Minot; chil-
