Lillian A. Vannett

Aug. 4, 1923-Feb. 6, 2021

Lillian Alma Vannett,

97, lifelong Minot area

resident, died Saturday,

February 6, 2021 in a

Minot Hospital.

Lillian was born August

4, 1923 on the family farm

south of Minot, the

daughter of Cicero and

Alma (Nelson) Vannett.

She was raised on the

family farm prior to her

family moving into Minot,

where she was educated

and graduated from Minot

High School with the

Class of 1941. She furth-

ered her education at the

Park River Vocational

School.

Lillian was employed as

a bookkeeper at Bridge-

man Creamery, Dakota

Beverage and KCJB Radio

Station, prior to becoming

the first female real estate

broker in Minot for Watne

Realty. She sold real

estate for many years and

served as the first female

President of the ND Real-

tors Association serving

in 1972 and again in 1976.

Lillian was extremely

active in the Minot Com-

munity with a number of

organizations, including:

Zion Lutheran Church,

Minot Business & Profes-

sional Club, where she

was named the woman of

the year in 1976, SCORE,

where she was named the

outstanding member in

2013 and charter member

of the ND Real Estate Edu-

cation Foundation. She

was a former member of

Beta Sigma Phi, the Dan-

ish Club and Genealogy

Club, all of Minot.

Lillian enjoyed quilting

and needle point. She was

active with the Zion Luth-

eran project of sewing

"Crazy Quilts for the

Lord" for charity. She

made many quilts for fam-

ily and friends and made

many ceramic figurines

throughout the years,

playing pinochle, bowling

and cooking. She had pro-

duced 2 cookbooks of

family recipes and won a

number of ribbons at the

ND State Fair.

Her loving family in-

cludes: siblings, Opal (Art

Sr.) Lautt, Minot; Henry

(Loretta) Vannett,

Bismarck, Wayne (Arla

Mae), Vannett, Hermiston,

OR; a number of nieces

and nephews; great-nieces

and great-nephews.

Lillian was preceded in

death by: her parents; and

her brothers, Carl, Robert,

Herbert and baby boy

Vannett.

Celebration of Life ser-

vice: Tuesday, February

16, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in

Zion Lutheran Church,

Minot. Social distancing

and face masks are recom-

mended.
