Larry A. Roth
Aug. 30, 1947-Feb. 20, 2021
Larry A. Roth, 73,
Minot, died Saturday,
February 20, 2021 in a
Minot Hospital.
Larry was born August
30, 1947 in Underwood,
ND to Henry and Kather-
ine (Ude) Roth. He was
raised in Big Bend/Silver
City, ND and attended ele-
mentary school in River-
dale, ND while his father
worked on the construc-
tion of the Garrison Dam.
They followed his
father’s work of building
missile silos throughout
North Dakota. He attend-
ed schools in Minot, Stan-
ley, Devils Lake, Grand
Forks and was a student
of the Job Corp. Larry gra-
duated from Hansen’s
Trade School in Fargo
with a certificate in auto
body repair.
Larry was united in
marriage to Sharyl Giese,
from Robinson, ND on
June 12, 1969. They made
their home in Riverdale,
where he was employed
and managed a service
station. They were blessed
with the birth of a son,
Rodney, in June 1970.
Larry’s mother had passed
prior to meeting his new
bride and she always felt
she was deprived by not
having a mother-in-law.
After his father’s passing
in February 1972, Larry’s
youngest brother Myron
lived with them and at-
tended school.
They moved to Minot in
1974. Larry worked for
Don Moe Dodge for a time
until starting a mainte-
nance position at Minot
State University. He
delivered mail on campus
for most of his 30 years of
service to the MSU, retir-
ing in 2004, due to his
health. Larry enjoyed
working part time the last
five years delivering vehi-
cles for Ryan Chevrolet.
Larry was a member of
Bethany Lutheran Church
and a lifetime member of
the Dakota Cruisers Car
Club, both Minot, where
he enjoyed all the cars,
trucks and friendships he
made over the years. Lar-
ry and Sharyl wintered in
Yuma, AZ after retiring
which gave him time to
take up wood carving for
his talented hands. He
treasured the memories of
the halibut and salmon
fishing trip in Alaska he
took in June 2003 and the
RV trip taken in 2018
across Western Canada,
The Yukon and Alaska
with the Kitchens and Ol-
sons.
Larry was known to
speak clearly what was on
his mindÃ-and if you
liked it ‘ok’ and if not
your problemÃ-‘get over
it.’
