Amos Dale Pretzer of
Rolla passed away on Jan.
5, 2021, at the age of 96
after what was thankfully
a short illness.
Amos was the youngest
of 10 children born to Au-
gust and Eleanor (Putnam)
Pretzer on their home-
stead in North Prairie
North Dakota. He graduat-ed from Velva High
School in 1943 and en-
tered the U.S. Army in
August of that year.
While in the Army he
served as a Tech Sergeant
with the 77th Infantry in
Okinawa during World
War II earning a Bronze
Star for meritorious ser-
vice for retrieving more
ammunition under heavy
enemy fire.
After his discharge in
1946 he began a long
career with the U.S. Geo-
logical Survey from which
he retired in August of
1980.
Amos was also the as-
sistant manager of the Up-
town Theatre for 15 years.
He taught many teens the
virtue of hard work and
being responsible.
He was a proud
member of the Rolla Lions
Club for 40 years. Enjoy-
ing the carnival and work-
ing at Bingo.
He was united in mar-
riage to Mabel (Rorback)
Pretzer on Dec. 26, 1949,
and was married to her
until her death on
8/2/1996. To this union
one daughter was born.
Late in 1997 Amos met
Ingeborg Kulinski Scott
on a bus tour headed to
the casino. From then on
they were constant com-
panions until her death
on 11/5/2011.
In his later years he was
a resident of Parkside
Manor where he enjoyed
Bingo, dancing and every-
thing they had to offer.
Amos is survived by:
his daughter Lee, grand-
son Zachery and future
son-in-law Kenneth, as
well as longtime family
friends Michael and Sta-
cia Reilly, many nieces
and nephews, their chil-
dren and grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents,
wife Mabel Pretzer, long-
time companion Ingeborg
Kulinski Scott, nine
brothers and sisters and
their spouses.
The family would like
to thank Parkside for their
love, laughs and being
there for Dad in his final
years. He loved you all
very much.
Amos will be cremated
with a memorial celebra-
tion scheduled for a later
date. In lieu of flowers
