Vietta Barden, 73,
Minot, ND, formerly of
Dickinson, passed away
Sunday, December 27,
2020, in a Minot Health-
care Facility.
Vietta was born May 22,
1947, the daughter of
Lydia and Rueben (Ack-
erman) Reich, on a farm at
Streeter, ND. The family
moved to Jamestown, ND,
and in the 8th grade the
family moved to Dickin-
son, ND, where she gra-
duated from Dickinson
High School in 1965.
Vietta worked at a la-
dies clothing store and
various restaurants. While
working at the restaurant
at Paragon Bowling Alley
she met Bernie Barden at
a bowling tournament.
They were married June
15, 1974, in Dickinson. In
2020 they celebrated 46
years of marriage. She
had three children, Roger,
Melissa and Tanya.
Vietta worked at Credit
Bureau and TSC in Minot.
She then became a stay at
home mom and ran a day-
care.
In 1980, she went to
work at the Grand and
worked there for 23 years.
She then worked at North
Central Human Services
Center for 11 years as a
case aid. She worked
part time at Marketplace
Foods in Minot, ND.
She was a member of
First Lutheran Church,
Minot, where she taught
Sunday school for a few
years and was a member
of the Altar Guild for a
while.
Vietta enjoyed garden-
ing, flower beds, search a
word, puzzles, reading
and embroidery.
Her loving family in-
cludes:
husband of 46 years,
Bernie Barden;
children, Roger (Glen-
da) Barden, Melissa (Tom)
Garrad and Tanya Barden;
grandchildren, Tyler,
Austin, Garrett, Tyson,
Allison, Bryanna, one step
grandson, William and
one step great-grand-
daughter, Rainy;
brother, Rodney (Alice)
Reich;
Several nieces, neph-
ews, sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law.
Vietta was preceded in
death by her parents.
Celebrating the Life of
Vietta Barden:
A Memorial Service
will be held on Tuesday,
January 5, 2021, at 10:00
am at First Lutheran
Church in Minot, ND.
The family encourages
those attending to wear
masks and social distance.
Burial: Rosehill Mem-
orial Park, Minot, ND.
