Janice Adams

June 23, 1943-Jan. 15, 2021

Janice Rose Adams, age

77, passed away peaceful-ly January 15, 2021.

Graveside services will

be held at 12:00 noon on

Saturday, February 6,

2021 at Mexia Cemetery.

Janice was born June

23, 1943 in Minot, North

Dakota to Lynn and

Mount Carmel Petersen.

She is preceded in

death by: her best friend

and love of her life of 50

years, Blake Adams Jr.,

her mother Mount Carmel

Petersen, her father Lynn

V. Petersen, brothers;

Lynn M. Petersen and

Ronald G. Petersen.

She is survived by: five

children, Sandy Carter,

Bobby Mikkelson, Kelly

Mikkelson, Tammy Bing-

ham, Cathy Adams, and

one stepson, Blake Lee

Adams; eight grandchil-

dren, and seven

great-grandchildren; and

three siblings, Danny

Petersen, Eddie Petersen,

and Timothy Petersen.

Jan was a dedicated

mother first and foremost.

She was a fierce

“mama-bear” and no one

dared cross her path

when it came to her chil-

dren. Undoubtedly, being

the matriarch of her fami-

ly was her greatest calling

in life.

She was known for not

holding back her opinion

and had a knack for tel-

ling it like it is. She told

the truth, even if it wasn’t

what you wanted to hear.

It was the “school of hard

knocks” and yes, we were

told many times how she

had to walk miles in a

blizzard to get to school.

With that said, she was

genuine to a fault, a pussy

cat at heart (or lion) and

yet she sugar-coated noth-

ing.

These words of en-

couragement, wisdom,

and sometimes comfort,

kept us in line, taught us

the “school of hard

knocks” and gave us

something to pass down

to our children.

She was an avid seam-

stress and it was far more

than a hobby, it was a pas-

sion. There was nothing

she could not create.

From Halloween cos-

tumes, prom dresses and

wedding gowns, to clothes

for her beloved grandchil-dren, it was all regarded

as an art form in our

household.

She will forever be in

our hearts, and we can all

take comfort in knowing

that she is no longer

suffering, and she is danc-

ing with her sweetheart,

together forever, in the

stars.
