Selma Linrud Hopkins,

93, died Monday, No-

vember 30th, 2020, at a

Minot assisted living

center.

Selma Beatrice Haugen

was born in Ryder, North

Dakota on July 7, 1927, to

Rudolph and Lucinda

(Pollert) Haugen. She was

raised in Ryder and gra-

duated from Ryder High

School.

Selma married

Lawrence Linrud on Sep-

tember 1, 1946, in Minot.

They farmed and raised

their family north of Vel-

va.

Lawrence and Selma

were members of North

Prairie Lutheran Church

where she was organist,

taught Sunday School and

was a member of Ladies

Aid. She also belonged to

Velva Homemakers, was a

member of Order of the

Eastern Star, Music Moth-

ers and was a charter

member of the volunteers

at Souris Valley Care

Center, Velva. Lawrence

died on May 21, 1979.

Selma married Kenneth

Hopkins on October 16,

1982, and they lived in

Minot, where Selma was

an active volunteer for

Trinity Auxillary.

Faith and family were

very important to Selma.

She is survived by: hus-

band, Ken; sons, Larry

(Gail) Linrud and Lyle

(Bobbie) Linrud, all of

Velva; daughter, Sue

(Rod) Wilson of Minot; 7

grandchildren; 10

great-grandchildren and

several nieces and

nephews.

She was preceded in

death by: her parents, sis-

ter, Bernice; brother,

Wendell; and husband,

Lawrence.

A Public Graveside Ser-

vice will be held on Fri-

day, December 4, 2020, at

2:00 pm at North Prairie

Lutheran Cemetery, rural

Simcoe, ND.

Visitation: Thursday

from 4 to 6 pm at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.
