Barbara Jean Spooner,
82, died peacefully with
her children by her side,
December 24, 2020 at
Trinity Hospital in Minot,
ND.
A private Family Ser-
vice will be on January 2,
2021 at 11:00 am at Beth-
lehem Lutheran Church
in Noonan with Pastor
Janet Gwin officiating fol-
lowed by a graveside ser-
vice at Bethlehem Luth-
eran Cemetery in Noonan.
Visitation will be Jan 1st
from 3:00-7:00pm at the
funeral home, Crosby and
at 10:00-11:00 am at Beth-
lehem Lutheran Church,
Noonan.
Barbara Jean was an
only child born on August
25, 1938 to Emmett and
Lucille (Fenster) Gausvik.
She attended Noonan
High School and graduat-
ed in 1956. She married
her high school sweet-
heart, Glen Leslie Spoon-
er, on August 11, 1956
and shared 63 wonderful
years of life together.
They have 4 children-
Gary, Laurel, Shayla, and
Wade. Before making
their home in Noonan,
they lived in Libby, MT
and Auburn, WA. After
retiring, they moved to
Minot and wintered in
Yuma, AZ for many years.
Barbara enjoyed and
was very active in teach-
ing Sunday school and
serving on the church
council, serving on the St.
Luke’s hospital board,
leading and attending Bi-
ble studies, 4-H leader,
member of Willing Work-
ers Homemakers club,
and singing in the NW
Chorus for many years.
She worked for the Public
Library Bookmobile and
then the US Postal Service
in Noonan and then in
Crosby for 29 years.
Barbara’s favorite pas-
time was spending time
with family and friends,
playing cards and games,
sewing clothes for her
girls, quilting and making
baby quilts and Christmas
stockings for all her
grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Barbara
was a wonderful mother
and grandmother who
was so patient, loving,
kind, and gentle. She nev-
er complained, even as
sickness consumed her
life.
Heaven received a
beautiful angel who is
reunited with her soul-
mate. Barbara was pre-
ceded in death by her
husband, Glen, parents,
and stepfathers.
She is survived by her
children Gary (Marcy)
Spooner (Tioga), Laurel
(Scott) Burner (Minot),
Shayla (David) Durick
(West Fargo), Wade
(Helen) Spooner
(Bismarck), 12 grandchil-
dren, 17 great grandchil-
dren, and not to forget
their ever precious dog,
GiGi, who lives with
Laurel and Scott.
Memorials are suggest-
ed to Bethlehem Lutheran
Church or Cemetery
Fund, Noonan.
Stakston-Martin Fun-
eral Home, Crosby, is in
charge of arrangements.
