Arvid Reimann
Nov. 5, 1939-Dec. 13, 2020
Arvid Reimann, 81,
longtime Minot area pho-
tographer and formerly of
Velva, died on Sunday,
December 13, 2020 in a
Bismarck hospital.
Arvid Eldys Reimann
was born on November 5,
1939 in Garrison, ND to
John and JoHannah
(Steinwand) Reimann. He
was raised on a farm in
the valley of the Missouri
River until their farm was
flooded due to the Garris-
on Dam and the family
moved to Velva. Arvid at-
tended school in Velva
and graduated from Velva
High School in 1957. He
enlisted in the United
States Marine Corps in
1958 and served until his
honorable discharge in
1961. He returned to
Minot where he was em-
ployed at Lowe and Lar-
son Printing.
Arvid married Marilynn
Lochthowe on October 17,
1970 in Missoula, MT.
They made their home in
Minot where he contin-
ued with Lowe and Lar-
son Printing and was a
part time photographer.
He always appreciated
Lowe and Larson Printing
for letting him always do
what he needed while tak-
ing pictures at Minot State
University. Arvid and
Marilynn switched to full
time photography, open-
ing Reimann Photography
in 1976 and worked to-
gether in photography un-
til 2005 when they re-
tired. During his retire-
ment he worked part time
at Target and kept busy
working in his garden and
yard.
Arvid was a member of
Our Redeemer’s Church –
Minot and served as the
President of the North
Dakota Professional Pho-
tographers Association.
He enjoyed gardening and
yard work, travel (espe-
cially to Puerto Vallarta,
Mexico) and spending
time with his family and
pets. He will be remem-
bered as the man who
often got the life story
from each person he met,
and he enjoyed the chal-
lenge of becoming a friend
to everyone he met and
worked with. He often
said he was a farm boy at
heart.
