Verna Walsh, 95,
Minot, formerly of
Parshall, died Friday, No-
vember 13, 2020 at a
Garrison hospital.
Verna Julia was born
October 2, 1925 in Max, to
Victor and Julia (Baluski)
Zenz. She grew-up on the
family farm and attended
school in Max. After gra-
duating, she continued
her education at Minot
Teachers College where
she earned her teaching
certificate. She taught at a
country school for several
years.
On October 19, 1949,
Verna was united in mar-
riage to Robert Walsh.
They made their home in
Garrison for several years
before moving to Parshall
in 1954. The Walshes
owned and operated Bob’s
Bar and Walsh’s Steak-
house. Verna was a great
mentor to many employ-
ees. They later acquired
Walsh’s Bottle Shop,
which Verna continued to
manage until the early
2000s.
Verna was a member of
St. Bridget Catholic
Church and its Altar So-
ciety. She also served on
the Arthur Solie Ameri-
can Legion Auxiliary. She
supported her husband in
his many endeavors like
the Legion Baseball and
Golden Glove Boxing.
Verna loved socializing
and spending time with
her family. The grandkids
would get excited when
she started to bake her
homemade caramel rolls.
She liked to crochet and
made many afghans and
doilies. She also enjoyed
fishing. Her houseplants
were well taken care of
and her flowerbeds were
bountiful. Her gentle soul
is at rest, blessed be her
memory among us.
Verna is survived by:
her sons, Larry (Linda) of
Minot, Lee (Carolyn) of
Ohio, Francis “Pepper”
(Debra) of Bottineau, and
Mark (Neva) of Williston;
daughters, Sharon Rood
(Richard) of Lena, IL and
Margo Ouradnik of Idaho
Falls, ID; 18 grandchil-
dren, 21
great-grandchildren, and 1
great-great grandchild; sis-
ter, Alice Ross (Tom) of
St. Cloud, MN; and many
nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
She was preceded in
death by: her parents;
husband; sisters, Margaret
Kerzman, Marlys Voegle,
and Doris Berg; brothers,
John and Robert Zenz;
and great-granddaughter,
Kailei Walsh.
The family will cele-
brate Verna’s life with a
private family service.

Noon, at Langhans Fun-
eral Home, Parshall.
