Dorothy Moore
Feb. 12. 1949-Nov. 15, 2020
Dorothy Moore, 71,
Minot, ND, passed away
Sunday, November 15,
2020, at Trinity Hospital
in Minot.
Dorothy Jane McCombs
was born February 12,
1949, the daughter of
Francis and Marian (La-
zier) McCombs in Rugby
North Dakota. Dorothy
was raised and educated
in Towner, where she gra-
duated from Towner High
School in 1967.
Dorothy was once mar-
ried to Dennis Moore.
They made their home in
Minot but also lived in
Bakersfield CA for a short
time before returning to
Minot, where they started
their family. From this
union, 2 daughters,
Michelle Moore and Tara
Miller, were born.
Dorothy attended beauty
school and worked as a
car hop at the local A&W.
She started working at the
Minot Air Force Base
Credit Union in 1971,
where she continued to
work until her retirement
in October 2011. Dorothy
loved her work at the
credit union. She made
many friends over the
course of her 40-year
career. After her retire-
ment, she had a few
health issues and we
needed to find some extra
help. We found the best
helper that turned out to
be an even better friend to
Dorothy. Dawn was an
absolute blessing in dis-
guise.
Dorothy enjoyed watch-
ing sports and was the
biggest fan of the Min-
nesota Twins and Min-
nesota Vikings. If they
were playing, she was
watching for sure.
Dorothy’s grandchildren
meant the world to her.
She was so immensely
proud of them. She loved
watching Alyea march in
the Gold Star Marching
Band for the NDSU Bison.
She loved it when Nevaeh
and Gaige would come to
visit her or when they
would tag along for a Sa-
turday shopping trip to
Target. Deep down
Dorothy always wanted a
son. When her youngest
daughter, Tara met and
married Milton, she final-
ly had the son she had al-
ways wanted. In fact,
Michelle and Tara are still
convinced that Milton
was the favorite. Family
was especially important
to Dorothy and she will be
missed by so many.
Her loving family in-
cludes: her daughters,
Michelle Moore (Oneil
Nembhard) and Tara Mill-
er (Milton Miller);
grandchildren, Alyea
Miller, Nevaeh Miller, and
Gaige Miller; siblings: Ida
Stewart, Oregon, Robert
(Patty) McCombs, Town-
er, ND, Beverly (Jerry)
Goodman, Upham, ND;
and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded
in death by her parents,
an infant brother; and sis-
ter, Lois Jones.
