Jerry Sorenson, Jr.
Sept. 11, 1970-Oct. 7, 2020
Jerry Lee Sorenson, Jr.,
50, Minot, passed away
Wednesday, October 7,
2020, at his home.
Jerry was born Sep-
tember 11, 1970 in Minot
to Jerry and Julie (Klein)
Sorenson. He was raised
and educated in the rural
Minot area and graduated
from Des Lacs/Burlington
High School in 1989.
On August 8, 1992 Jerry
was united in marriage to
Christy Pukis in Minot.
This union would pro-
duce two sons, Casey on
July 11, 1991 and Nick on
August 3, 1996.
Jerry started working
with Nash Finch as a
warehouse worker after
graduating from high
school. He started his
trucking career about five
years later as a delivery
driver. In 1999, he began
working for Farstad Oil in
Minot. Jerry began having
heart problems in 2015
which would force him to
resign. After years of trips
in and out of the hospital
trying to repair his heart
condition, he was placed
on the heart transplant
list. On October 13, 2019,
Jerry received the gift of a
new heart. His recovery
was long and difficult but
he was able to walk out of
the hospital in March of
2020 to continue rehab at
home. Jerry continued to
maintain a positive atti-
tude while facing more
and more health chal-
lenges. In August of 2020
Jerry received the devas-
tating diagnosis of
leukemia. He was able to
move back to Minot
where he spent his final
days surrounded by fami-
ly and friends.
Jerry loved being out-
doors fishing, hunting, or
golfing. He enjoyed camp-
ing with family at Parshall
Bay. Jerry also loved rid-
ing motorcycles and was
an avid fan of the World
of Outlaws Sprint Car Cir-
cuit. Spending time with
friends was a favorite pas-
time and Jerry always
made time to hang out
with his best friends
Casey and Nick.
Jerry will long be
remembered for his fun
and engaging personality.
He was the life of the par-
ty wherever he went and
always had a story to tell.
Everywhere he went, it
seemed as if he knew
everybody and any trip to
the store would always
end up with him talking
to at least a few people for
extended periods of time.
Jerry had a very infectious
laugh that would bring joy
to all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his
mother, Julie Sorenson;
sons, Casey and Nick
Sorenson; brother, Jason
Sorenson; sister-in-law,
Tricia Sorenson; niece
Addison Sorenson;
nephews, Aiden and
Jasper Sorenson; and
numerous aunts, uncles,
and cousins.
He was preceded in
death by his father, Jerry
Sorenson, Sr.
