Minot, ND, passed away

Saturday, October 10,

2020, at Trinity Homes in

Minot, ND.

Donna Lou Parizek was

born July 13, 1932, the

daughter of Frank and

Nellie (Sorenson) Parizek,

on the family homestead

North of Minot in Eureka

Township, Ward County.

Donna was raised and

educated in Eureka Town-

ship and graduated from

Minot High School in

1949.

Upon her graduation,

Donna moved to Seattle,

WA, where she worked

for Bell Telephone as an

operator. She was once

married to Bill MacKin-

non, Sr. While Bill was in

the service, Donna moved

back to Minot, where she

worked Minot Telephone,

NSP and retired from

Souris River Telephone

where she scheduled the

workers for cabling.

Donna married David

Varty on October 13,

1973. They made their

home in Minot, where she

retired from SRT in 1997.

David passed away No-

vember 12, 2016.

She was a member of

St. Leo the Great Catholic

Church, Minot, ND. She

enjoyed sewing, crochet-

ing, cooking, reading, rid-

ing her bike, and tending

to and spending time in

her yard. She also enjoyed

watching her husband

race at the Nodak Speed-

way. She loved animals,

especially her maltese

dog, Pooky.

Donna’s family would

like to extend a special

thank you to Donna’s

caregiver, Lisa Schepp.

Her loving family in-

cludes: daughter, Roxy

(Kevin) Kelly, Minot; son,

Bill (Connie) MacKinnon,

Jr., Mandan, ND; grand-

daughter, Krista Miller

(Dane Koranda); great-

granddaughters, Norah

and Vida Miller; sisters-

in-law, Ruth (Arne) Tol-

lefson, Maddock, ND,

Bonnie (Fred) Martens,

Great Falls, MT, Betty

(Richard) Schlichting,

Garrison, ND; and

numerous nieces,

nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in

death by her parents; hus-

band, David; brothers,

Richard, Archie, Donald

(Shirley) and Jerry Par-

izek; grandson, Jamie

MacKinnon; and step-son,

David Varty, Jr.,

Mass of Christian Buri-

al: Friday, October 16,

2020, at 10:30 am at St.

Leo the Great Catholic

Church in Minot.

Interment: Sunset

Memorial Gardens, Minot,

ND.

Visitation: Thursday

from 4 to 6 pm at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of

flowers, memorials are

preferred to St. Leo the

Great Catholic Church or

the Souris Valley Animal

Shelter.
